Brake swap: brakes from BMWs

Hi all,

Testing the plausibility of something here: given that the R60 comes in a 5x120 bolt pattern, is it possible to run OEM BMW or BMW upgrade brakes with the right size wheels to clear the calipers? I read something about requiring some spacers or something earlier, but am curious as to what would be possible.

I know the 135i brakes are OEM JCW now, but let's say I wanted to go bigger... That's the question I'm after. M3, X3, etc. Thoughts?

the bolt patern is 5x120, but the bolt itself is M14x1.25 on the Mini and on the BMW (135i, E92 M3 etc.) it's M12x1.25. I'm not sure if this could be a problem.

but it would be really interesting, cause I have a set of E92 335i calipers at home which I dont need.

As long as it fits behind the wheel, all is fair game. Let us know if you come up with something! I wish I had kept my m3 brakes now... :D

That's good to know. Now I wonder if a hub swap would be necessary or if I would even need to do anything different at all. Hmm...

The bolt threads shouldn't matter, that's just a bolt and thread.

This is a good replacement from the factor bolts: http://www.apexraceparts.com/apex-pr...eel-Stud-Kits/

I think I missed something, here. Isn't he asking if a BMW caliper will fit over the Mini rotors, and behind the wheels. Essentially, will a BMW caliper bolt up on a Countryman's hub? That doesn't (shouldn't) have anything to do with the bolt spacing on the hub.

I'm asking because I was curious of the same thing, like could I used an M-series calipers on the Countryman, mainly for the looks of a 4/6pot brakes. Think one might be able to find them for way cheaper than for Willwood/Brembo, maybe even at a junk yard?
