19" wheels....

19" wheels....
So when I ordered my 2014 CM, I was unaware of the wheel and tire insurance that Mini offers. Living in the Northeast, I wouldn't dare get 19" wheels so I got it with the 18" wheels. When I went to pick it up, they told me about the insurance. Well if I knew about that when I ordered the car I would have DEFINITELY gotten the 19"s!!! Any idea if they would swap out my 18"s for the 19"? Just wondering if anyone has done this or thought about it.
Thanks,
Dave

I ordered the 19s with the standard performance tires with my 14' CM (I do not recall the an option for all-season with the 19s). My dealership had three complete new wheel sets with all season tires with 17s wheel sets stacked behind one of their desks. I ended up buying a second set of 17 wheels for winter (wheels, run flat all season tires, tire pressure sensor, and balanced for $1,500). Why you may ask? For the price of wheel insurance I was able to purchase a second set of wheels which will double the lifespan of having to buy new tires for normal wear and tear.
I just swapped the 19s performance tires for 17s all season yesterday (getting ready for winter). The ride is definately softer/comfortable for rough roads, not to mention the MPGs is better with the 17s. (Don't ask me why.) The 19s get very stiff in the cold and even causes the ride to be worse--not to mention any snow those 19s will slip.
From your post, I assume you are waiting for delivery and as such likely did not sign a fortmal contract for the price itself (only a deposit) you may be able to work with the manager on something. Good luck.

Oh no I got the CM back in April. I've just been thinking about trying to switch the wheels. I'm also thinking of getting a winter setup as I know the 19's would just be horrible in the winter. The reason I went with the insurance is that I've bent my share of 18" wheels before. I figured I'd probably bend these a few times over the years so it was worth it to me to get it.
