I may have my MINI again <g>

My MINI should be repaired by tomorrow (at least the body damage anyway).

I'll need to call Cincy MINI to have them take care of the tpms error and the
annoying passenger seat belt chime, but hopefully I can go pick him up this
weekend <G>.

With this in mind, I was wondering who's up for a run on either of the following
two weekends? May 17-18 or May 24-25 ?

I'm off work for two weeks starting May 16, and don't have to be back til
the 28th. Would like to be able to hit the road one weekend , if anyone's
up for it.

Just putting out a feeler to see who's up for it and when...

(Oh, and sorry I've not been posting. Suffering from MINI withdrawal <g>.)

There's a big British car show on the 18th. in Columbus. My wife and I will be there to show and party. It is close to MAG MINI in Dublin. It's time for my car's 60k inspection so we'll be taking care of that too.

So did you get him back? Too bad the weather has been less than perfect.

Continuing adventures of Petronius <g>...

Called Friday hoping for the good news that my car would be coming home.
Unfortunately, did not hear what I hoped. Cincy MINI replaced a hose leading
in to the intercooler , thinking that would clear up my rough running, but no luck.

Once that code was cleared, it threw another one, this time having to do with
the throttle potentiometer... They were going to work on that Saturday and the
start of this week. They were not sure if this was wreck related, or just under
the regular warranty. Big difference to me is , if it's under warranty they will need
to be getting me a rental <g>. I have no problem driving my RX7, but miss not
having AC on warm days.

(That's not an issue today though... high of 55, which sucks <g>)

I just hope it's fixed by this weekend coming up. I start a 12 day vacation
Friday, and would love to be able to drive my MINI someplace <g>.
(May just go outlet mall shopping and overnight a couple of different nights...
not planning any long hauls... probably over to Jeffersonville, or maybe the outlets
in Pennsylvania near Pittsburgh...)

Update of the update <g>

OK, still no good news from my MINI.

Well, maybe a little good news, but mostly bad.
Spoke to Nick at Cincy MINI yesterday, and they are still not having any luck
identifying the problem with my MINI running rough. Best I can understand it,
once they fixed the hole in the intercooler line, it thru the code reffering to the
throttle potentiometer. Fixed that, and it's still running rough. Now it's not
throwing any codes at all, and they are stumped. Bumped it up the line to
MINI corporate, and best guess is somewhere I've got a bad place in my
wiring harness. They are going to try to basically build a new one that they
can use to isolate the problem. (Picture "is it good from point a to point b...OK,
now how about b to c ? Lather , rinse , and repeat til the problem is solved. <g>.)

They have my sympathy and understanding... that type of a problem is very hard
to track down and fix... so I'm being patient. (It helps that they are great to work
with...)

Nick isn't sure whether the problem is wreck related, or just something under
warranty that's crept up. Regardless, he's authorized me a rental until they get
it figured out. He didn't have to do that... but that's an example of how they
treat there customers. That goes along way towards making me a happy camper.

I know they do not want it in there shop any longer than neccesary. Although at
this point they've probably had my MINI as long as I had.... it's not due to lack
of effort on there part.

Hopefully the repair gods will take pity on me and let the problem be in one of
the first places they look <g>. I start vacation friday, and would love to have my
MINI for at least part of it.

An update on my update.

Received word Monday that my MINI is close to being mine again.

Turns out when they replaced the throttle body assembly they found a
small piece of plastic jamming things up somehow, from the wreck. Put
things back together minus the piece of plastic, and it's back to running
right.

Yesterday it should have made it back to the body shop, so it might end
up back to me either this evening , or tomorrow, with luck.

If I have it this weekend, anyone up for a run? I may be hitting another
outlet mall in PA or NC, but may be open to other directions <g>.

Now I can maybe get back to feeling like part of the MINI community again.
I've not felt all that much like posting, being without my MINI .

Still no MINI

Orr's autobody dropped my MINI off to Cincy MINI last night, plan being
to flatbed it to me this morning. Nick had them do a final short drive to make
sure everything was good to go, and as my luck would have it, the AC isn't
putting out cold air. Turns out there's a leak somewhere in a line, and they
have to try to find it Tuesday.

Figures, with my vacation being over then, and I have to go back to work
on Wed. morning.

This sucks.
