Trying to get a bit more top end for highway (K&N Filter and JB+?)
Hey guys,
I've been sifting through the forums the last few hours and concluded the best bang for buck is to change the Air Intake and add the JB+.
I have a 2014 R60S and even though it's great at under 50mph, it's horrible on top end on the highway (i have my foot down halfway in 6th gear to maintain speed).
I don't want to spend too much money, so Im thinking of getting:
K&N 33-2936 http://www.knfilters.ca/search/produ...3-2936#reviews
and
JB+ Plug n Play unit http://www.waymotorworks.com/jb-plug...18-engine.html
I've seen some people talking about the RU-1540. Anyone have experience with both of them? Does the RU-1540 perform a bit better? i assume it would need some additional 90 degree tube? Would the MAF sensor still stay where it is in the stock position?
For the JB+, anyone have any check engine light issues? I'm assuming it's pretty safe to use.
Thanks in advance and happy holidays!

After reading a bit more, the hot topic (pun intended) is whether the CAI (hot air intake) really makes much of a difference over the stock one. I guess I'll just get a drop in filer. Need to decide whether to get the K&N 33-2936 which is oiled i believe, or get a dry one.
I live in Canada, so I am trying to find a local dealer that carries the JB+, but looks like i have to order it online.

Drop in filter is good, we have them in stock. I had no oil / filter issues with my BMC factory oil filter on the r52 Cooper ( came oiled in the factory kit by MINI ).
In stock.
Its oiled.

Now if you use and open filter , like RU-1540 you will get more sound but you will get hot air from the engine bay and the filters tend to need to be cleans more often, they get dirty easy.
Pipercorss is a foam filter and is light oil. Other options below.

Yes keep researching as intakes are not bang for buck on Countryman S.
If you do just go with a dry drop in filter go dry as we don't like running the oil through the sensors.
The JB module does work, but a real ECU tune will net you more.

Anyway, I came back from the dealership for something else and they said it is running properly. Maybe I'm just used to my old Mazda 3 sport with a 2.3L engine. Had no problem with pickup at any rpm. I also had a CAI on it.

Sport button should be in the center toggle back , unless your overseas or something.

DS is what my dash shows when sport mode is toggled on. Sounds like that's the method on yours. You don't notice a difference when in DS mode?

Yea, I definitely do notice a difference, but its too aggressive and doesn't shift when I'd like it to so I find myself just using the paddles anyway
