New member please

I just received my Mini last Wednesday. The HMS Beagle is an 09 Clubman, Laser Blue and a real gem. It is a bit smaller than my last vehicle (2004 Durango), but the gas mileage and its sporty nature has me more than happy. I am a Nebraska native (born and raised in York), but have lived in Omaha for the last 24 years. I'd like to be a member of C.O.R.N.

Hi VTRUS, hope to see you around town. I went from a 2003 Durango to my Clubman. Quite a change, huh? But I just didn't need all that ginormous-ness anymore. And the Clubbie is infinitely more fun to drive. So is your MINI's "secret" name Darwin, or Fitzroy?

Gosh, Zyamfier, I never asked to be put on the list. Could I join too?

I guess the secret name would be Chuck. I've been a fan of Mr. Darwin for some time, years in fact. Yes, the Durango was just too big for the world. There really isn't any need for such a huge beast. I am very disappointed in the way it took the news, it blew a rod 14 days before HMS Beagle was delivered. No humor there at all.

Welcome aboard VTRUS (and tancred if I didn't send one before). Jim should be adding your names when he gets on line.

Jim,
Also, do you know if you will be making a group purchase for the calendars again this year or do we need to order our own.

Thanks,
Mike...

I bought "Keira," a new 2008 lightning blue Cooper S, back in June... by far the best, most fun car I've ever owned

I'm currently an Air Force college student here at the University of Nebraska, and will go active in the Air Force in a year and a half... My family is Air Force but I spent the majority of my life to this point at Offutt AFB, Bellevue, NE, and University of Nebraska...

I would like to be a member of CORN.

Ryan Luedtke tagged our mini with a CORN business card at the Hy-Vee on 27th street in Lincoln. It was the best laugh my wife and I have had this year - what a creative card.
Our daughter was acctepted to law school about 3 years ago, and to celebrate, she leased a Mini - her dream car - and named him Tofur. She recently got a job in Washington DC, lives in Dupont Circle in a tiny (inexpensive) apartment, and she cannot afford to have a car. A parking place there costs $250 a month, good grief. So, the parental units took over the lease payments and now drive Tofur.
Ryan, you may have noticed the Ohio plates. We moved to Nebraska last July. The mini was leased in Ohio, and we will return him when the lease is up. That's our story - enjoy your great little cars with a big heart.
- Curtis

Thanks for taking the time to post to our fine CORN field. I can't promise that you will not find another card on your MINI in the future. Have fun while you have the MINI I have had mine for 3 years and cant imagine not getting another when I wear this one out.

Zyamfier,

We should also have a list of all of the colors that are represented in our CORNnation. Just so we can see what the most popular color is in our fair state of the Cornhuskers. One would think that "Husker Red/Chili Red would be the most popular, but I bet we would be surprised.

I'll start.

Hyper Blue/Black

Chili Red/Black. But that is due to my Texas Tech and Ohio State background, I think. (0-2 this bowl season. ) And because, with the exception of the forest green minivan, all my other cars have been blue, and I wanted to shake things up. A lot.

BTW, a colleague refers to her Laser Blue MINI as "Creighton Blue".

Great name in "Turkish"! Not many cars are named after a plane crash.

Proud colors

Laser blue here. No real reason other than it was the coolest color on the palate. I did work for Creighton University about 9 years ago, but that wasn't the reason for the color choice. I couldn't choose green as my wife is a green fanatic and I had to leave that color for her. Red; Nebraska had to choose differently than the Big Red Mass.
Wishing it was warmer so I could play with the HMS Beagle.

I was in Omaha/Bellevue the weekend before last (back for my daughters' christening) and spotted a PS MCS with plates MNI LIMO at Eppley passenger pickup on the 15th. Is it a CORN member car?

Not that I know of Agro. Being out here in the sticks I don't get to see all the plates. If they are I am sure they will pipe up.

Yes. And when May 14 - 16 come around

Many of them will be found Motoring up to the Black Hills for the Black Hills Run with MINIs from 10 states.

See the discussion thread in the MINI5280 Forums here in NAM.
