Big Auto-x event in Lincoln. 10/19

Hey all,

There is a big, 2-day auto-x event in Lincoln, NE for the weekend of October 18th-19th. This will be based on the 1997 National Championship north course. Hope some Minis can make it.

I've signed up. Seems like fun. But I think I'll be put in too high of a class because of my mods. No matter, I've never done autocross and I'm curious.

Hey nabeshin!

Welcome aboard. Yeah, it's a good time for sure and the auto-x is where a Mini shines.

A couple of things: There is always a novice drivers meeting at 10:30ish, you'll want to do the walk through with them. Heck, I've done this plenty of times and I'll still attend once in a while to get some pointers. It doesn't hurt. Also, if you can find a more experienced driver to ride along with you, they'll give you some pretty good pointers. Most people are pretty friendly and willing to help out someone new. And walking the course as many times as you can is recommended.

Still debating which day I'm showing up. Really, it's going to come down to which day has the best weather.

Ryan, I don't think they would turn you away if you show up and want to run. Money is money right?

I was going to be there Saturday. However, due to work issues I could not make it. Today looks no better. Additionally, I have heard nothing from Markel about a party this year.

They dont have photos of everyone, and there seem to be less photos from sunday.

Lincoln AutoX etc.

Hi Everyone,
Hope you all had fun in Lincoln. We loved the square footage in spite of it being hard on tires, though Sunday it seemed to be much better. Any idea how many corded over the weekend? I know of 7.

As for the loaner helments , they are available from Solotime for about $70 upward. Surely there is some way to wash the liners...

Lincoln AutoX etc.

Now what about a Halloween get together or something since nothing has been mentioned about one... I know several people here who don't autoX, but would love to have a MINI meet. Does anyone know about something being planned because we were told that had a local club had came in and pretty much bought out the detailing supplies to use as prizes for an event when we were in the dealership last week.

Yeah, my tires took a good beating, however cutting that corner short and getting a DNF probably saved me some tread life!

I was suprised that some people commented on how grippy it was and yet others (myself included) said that it seemed slippery. I've gotten much better grip in other lots for sure (different tires, different characteristics). In retrospect I'm sorta happy I didn't go Saturday and do all those extra runs, as the tires would have been in much worse shape.

Good time though. Wish we could have had 1 more run once I figured out where I was going!
