Who is Dyamond?

Dyamond Ott is a 13 year old girl from Ankeny, Iowa, who was diagnosed with a liver disease, Progressive Familial Intra Hepatic Cholestasis - Type 3, at the age of six. Dyamond was put on medicine immediately, but she spent the next several years making visits to the University of Iowa Hospital every couple months. In December 2005, Dyamond was evaluated by the transplant team at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, and on September 21, 2006, Dyamond received lifesaving liver and kidney transplants.

Why is the Rally for Dyamond being organized?

Since Dyamond's double organ transplant, the Ott family has seen hospital bills soaring into the hundreds of thousands of dollars, as well as trying to cope with the cost of the twenty-two medications that Dyamond will take twice a day for the rest of her life. In December of 1999, Dyamond's younger sister, Dallas, was also diagnosed with the same liver disease. This diagnosis has doubled the financial and emotional impact for the Ott family and it is our mission With the help of COTA to make life a little easier for this local family.
