Loess Hills Scenic Biway

Is anyone interested in a drive through the Loess Hills Scenic Biway? It starts around Akron Iowa and ends up in St Joe Missouri. It would be an easy day trip with lots of things to see along the way. Depending on how many stops we plan it could be an overnighter. There are several web sites with information on the Biway.

Looks like a great road. Nothing I like better than roads that don't make a straight line to the horizon.

My vote would be for sometime in the spring. Early April or late May as I plan on going to the Dragon the first weekend in May.

This would be a drive that could pull people from all over. Not a long drive for several states.

Thanks again for the suggestion. I will try to get something set up soon.

Jim

Loess Hills Scenic Biway

I was talking to the wife tonight and we thought Memorial Day weekend would be good. Maybe meet in Akron on the Saturday morning. Depending on how many stops a person makes it could be an easy one or two day trip. Here are a couple more links that have some good tourism information.

It's interesting that western Iowa has recently become home to several wineries and other new business.

Well I'm starting to get some organization going on this. First off I'm starting the "Loess Hills Motoring Club" for western Iowa. I know there's at least 4 MINI's here in Glenwood so I'll be doing some recruiting. Here is a link to the club web site: http://www.loesshillsmotoringclub.com.

As for the "Loess Hills Scenic Byway Rally", I'll be working on getting people to host activities along the way such as photo ops, lunches and such. There's lots of interesting stops in Western Iowa including Lewis and Clark displays, indian artifacts and great scenery.

One thing that may be of interest to some of you is the Mid America Motorplex in Pacific Junction. This could be a great opportunity for people to get their MINIs on the track. http://www.midamericamotorplex.com/2006/default.asp. If someone would be interested in hosting an event there that would be great.

I was thinking we could do some motoring from the North end on Saturday and then meetup at the track Sunday afternoon.
