F-ing Crack

Over the last week I have seen a crack grow from an inch long to the length of the windshield . I found the chip, It is about a half inch above the bottom of the windshield. below the drivers side wiper in the black part. I noticed one night about an inch long then while on my way to work it grew before my eyes to about a foot long and the last ice storm sent it across the whole windshield. Anyone ever see a crack grow before their eyes?? Is it right that MINI wont replace it if they found a chip? I am probably going to wait for spring to fix it.

That's correct. If they find a chip it is considered comprehensive damage and not chassis stress damage which is covered under warranty.

You should be able to get a replacement aftermarket windshield installed for about $200-250. I would recommend PPG brand because it's thicker glass. Just call around to local auto glass places and see if they can order. I was happy with my PPG glass in my '04.

If your car is an '07 aftermarket glass may not yet be available.

PM me if you have any further questions...

Also

Make sure they secure the A-pillar molding well with new clips and double sided tape. I had two moldings fly off my old car after windshield replacement! And one was replaced by Baron.

Common problem, especially when the temperature drops.
I'm liking my PPG glass, there is a chip at the right edge, no crack starting. ~knocks on real wood~
