Does anyone know of Mini repair service in Omaha other than Markel?

I always get a flyer on my car for a place in elkhorn that does european imports. As long as its not a ECU problem most places can fix the MINI. It's not that complicated. But expect 90% of any parts needed to take a day or so. If it's MINI specific, something major, It may be better for the dealer to order it. I do all my own work, and I'm not a professional mechanic.

Do you have a problem?

i've had my mini for about 4 months now. i live in lincoln so it is hard for me to get to omaha for repairs. i get all my repairs done at a place called lael's imports. phone number is 423-3777. he just aligned my mini for $35. he has also replaced my thermostat housing and coolant reservoir. i also had him replace my cv shaft for only $120. he does good work but i will admit that he is a bit slow. he just runs a one man shop so it takes him awhile. the best part is that if i can find a part cheaper online he will let me get it and bring it into him instead of him ordering it. give him a call if you are in lincoln.

Husker Auto Group can also work on mini's. i've had mine there for oil changes, tire rotations, fuel injection service, and a throttle body service. my father in law is a technician there and he works on mine. he even installed my jcw cai for me as a birthday gift!

I can do all of that with a hand tied behind my back. Any place can do general service. If you know a guy, that is awsome. If you don't, and want a reliable place. It's hard for a MINI owner right now, in Omaha. The dealer, however awsome Markel is, is gonna bend you over IMHO, thats how they make their money. $600 for the service after your MINI 3 years is up kinda thing. I think working on your car is great thing. It brings your closer to it, in an emotional way. If you have more than a general service question NAM is an awsome resource.

I can't believe I said awsome 4 times in a post. haha

I don't know who else does repairs besides Markel but if you're in Des Moines I would look up British Motors LTD. The place is owned by Davey Walker and he is the biggest MINIac I've met thus far.

I just met him this past week out at MITM...a real MINI enthusiast, for certain. Here he is with his wife and one of his MINIs:

Anyway, the real reason I sought out this thread is to give a shout out to Markel. I'm in town on business and took the opportunity today to take Sfax in for an out-of-cycle oil service and health check. Kim the SA couldn't have been more nice and helpful. Gave me a loaner R56 for half a day even though my meeting was only over on 72nd Street.

A great experience from start to finish. You CORNites should feel fortunate. Maybe I paid a few dollars more, but in my book it was worth it. Wish I wasn't 5 1/2 hours drive away, I'd be happy to give them more of my business.
