Dealing with the last week

As some of you know. Trogdor was broke into a week ago. I took pictures the morning after the deed was done. Just could not look at them and get them posted till now.

Now that the car is back from the body shop I feel much better. I did have a good time riding the bike this last week. Until last night when it rained.

Total damage just over $800.00 + the missing iPod.

So here are the pictures of the damage. All that for an iPod.

Last picture before the break-in.

This is what I came out to the next morning.

The crook was not to smart because he tried to pry the door skin out to get
the door open.

Last good angle of the damage. Note the scratch down the door where the glass was pulled out and dropped on the side of the car.

Wish I had left the windows open on the house that night.

Hey Jim.. sorry to hear about Trogdor . So they busted a window, made a bad attempt at prying open the door for only an iPod?? Was this deed done in front of your house???

At least they didn't do more damage and you got Trog back.. good as new.

Glad to hear that it's fixed! We'll just focus on the positive now, and pick out a new iPod/iPhone for you.

Get an iPhone. My wife has one and is in love. iPod, web browser, PDA and phone all in one. Sorry to sound like a commercial, but they're even cooler than they look.

Sorry for your loss. We had someone back into our minivertible on Chrismas Eve in a parking lot and drive away. Didn't think it did too much damage, but they broke the radiator mounts. Ended up over $3500. Merry Christmas.

Ah well - the baby's fine now, and we'll see everyone on the 28th.

So sorry for the damage Zamfier, but at least all is well now. In case you haven't seen the new Nano or for some reason don't want an iPhone (I have a crappy Treo from work), it's pretty amazing.

Hey minivertible, did the perps actually start the car without the key? Is that a first? I guess that old-school hot wiring would work...sheesh.

Sorry to hear about your damage. Must've been a sick feeling to come out in the morning and discover that. I'll bet your cousin wasn't very happy either. I'm glad that you've got Trogdor back and life is returning to normal.

Is this sort of "smash and grab" crime for aftermarket electronics a prevalent problem in Omaha?

Jim:

That is rotten! You keep such good care of your stuff! It had to be a heart stopper to walk out & see that door bent like it was.

Hello from Colo. Springs,

Mike

Glad you and Trogdor are doing ok. I know I've always feared that happening to me, even living on base. We have privatized housing, now, so any Joe Civilian (no offense to those of you who are civilians) can just come in and get a house on base, and a lot of them don't have the cleanest history. I've heard of people breaking into cars even in the parking lot of the BX, so I fear for Tina a lot. I'm just sorry it had to happen to you.

What a rotten thing to happen. I am sure the damage will be fixed and your Trogdor will be as handsome as ever. I second the motion on the iPhone. I have one and love it. My iPod stays on the elliptical machine!

Thanks for all the kind words everyone.
All is well with the repair....
after thinking about it for a while I went with the iPod Classic
Reasons
  • it fits well in the holder I already had
  • has more storage than the iPhone
  • and oh yea at&t / cingular service does not work out here in the middle of Nebraska.
I am now thinking of getting the MINI alarm. I think that blinking red light would have been a deterrent to theft.
