I am interested also, however, porting and polishing alone doesn't do very much, it's in conjunction with other mods, that makes the difference.

sorry guys... i guess i should have made my post a little bit more clear. I port and polish cylinder heads for MINI's. I have seen a substantial increase in horsepower and torque when teamed up with a cam. However i have no idea if anyone has ported and polished a cylinder head and put it on the cooper. (i know the cylinder heads are the same except for some bits of the valve train)

I was just curious to see if anyone has checked to see if the cooper makes power with a P&P cylinder head and if anyone has tried it...

sorry for the consfusion

I want to try it...

The power band of the stock engine indicates that the heads were designed for mid-range performance, which means you'll win no races. Porting to increase airflow on both the intake and exhaust at higher rpms will give you a race winner at the expense of low rpm punch. I have dealt with this on other type engines and was able to tune ignition, fuel, etc. to gain back some of the lost low end. Whatever, the added power at high rpm's is worth it to me! Get that Coop' rolling, then haul @$$! Do it! -Jeffy.
