Has anyone installed the Remus dual sport exhaust on their Cooper? I'm looking for feedback on this modification. Moss Mini has it advertised in their Winter issue 1 for $850. Does anyone know how difficult it is to install, any problems with the fit, how long it takes?

minilifecrisis,

I love the name!

I have yet to do this one. I have been under so many S's in the last month, that I can't recall if the Cooper is the same on the opposite side or not. I would be curious to see if the fitting for the hanger is on the driver side. If it is, and there is room, I don't think it would be too much of a problem. The valance would just have to be notched for the extra pipe.

The next time one stops by, I'll duck under it and check it out.

I have been very happy with the Rogue for the Cooper. The Magnaflow is nice too, but the tip is a little big. I think I'm leaning toward the Rogue for the MINI as my favorite now. They are both great systems, and make similar power and weight changes, so it's really all about the tip design - which is totally subjective. I swing back and forth based on the mood I'm in that day I think (not that there's anything wrong with that ).

I know that didn't exactly answer your question, but I'll check on it ASAP.

Randy

Yeah, I think the Magnaflow seems like a great way to go, except for that mongo tip. I don't like the look of being able to roll a grapefruit into the exhaust. Way too many Civics and Integras around looking silly for that reason. Seems like quite a bit of water could get in that way too, with heavy rain and proper wind direction and the car parked outside.

Seriously considering going the exhaust mod route once summer hits. Probably not the $850 route, though...

Having just installed the Magnaflow I don't think water entry will be
a problem. I have to also say the fit and finish is excellent...not
like the one they had at the SEMA show. The free flow is apparent as
soon as you get in the car....easily noticeable on deceleration. I
disagree about the size of the tips....not really as ricey looking as
something you'd see on a Civic at all and the sound.....like a little
Ferrari.....

2minis - I've never actually seen the Magnaflow in person, so that's probably why I have the impression that I do. I'm sure it looks (and sounds) very nice!

minilifecrisis,

I did some checking today, and found out some more info on the Cooper. Because it is set up for the left side exit in the UK, everything is there on the opposite side. You just have to get the brackets (available from MINI, and may even be in the Remus package).

I still haven't done one, but I thought that information might help. Call and talk to Jim at Moss MINI about it and he should be able to give you some good info on the Remus. Eventhough I have it available to me, I'd rather just steer you to someone who has already had some experience with it.

Hope that helps!

Randy
