Was this link to a post for the center fog light? I need the oval one in the center on the bumper, where I do believe you can attach a trailer hitch by doing a major overhaul. I so do not want to haul the bumper off just to change a lamp...I'll live with the error code. Thanks

Reach under the rear bumper. The backside of the rear fog is exposed. If all you want to do is change the bulb, twist the bulb holder counter clockwise, and it will unlock and release from the light housing. If you want to remove the entire lamp from the bumper, press the tabs on the sides inward.

That is the correct lamp I am talking about but if I'm not mistaken there is a hard black plastic cover covering almost all of the rear underneath. I'll have to take a picture when I get home from work and post it. It must come off to get to that lamp.. lol. I remember this because when I use back to black or armorall, I sometimes shine it as well..nothing like a shiny hiney!

rkw -

Was just going to post that showing the back side of the lamp houing.

Thanks for the post.

See if you can pop the lens out from the front of the bumper and then access the lens and bulb.

Once you post up a pic we should know. Here is the diagram of the rear bumper and I can also see this is the foam from the bumper impact right above it.

Thanks

I was just thinking that , you have the rear panel in place.

Underbody paneling, rear

http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/51711149159/

Just undo the plastic expanding nuts which is number 3 in the diagram across the bumper, pull the plastic down a little, reach up and pop the rear lens out. If you cannot band it enough undo the other #2 platic nuts toward the front of the MINI further under on each side , then the whole plastic should drop.

Thanks and hope that helps.

I made out just fine. I have humidity in the light so I left the light out for a bit and parked her in the sun. I'll never get rid of it unless I replace the whole light I guess. Main thing, Thankfully no more error codes.

Great Glad you got the light fixed.

You could in the future try letting the part sit out in the sun by itself and the top up where you insert the bulb ( bulb out of course ). That might get rid of most of out but if the lens where it seals to the housing lets water in, a new one will fix that.

Anybody know how to retrofit this light onto a MINI that doesn't have it installed from the factory?

Check to see if there is wires back there ( pre wired ) for the Cooper. Then Get the light housing above. Then you will need to get this toggle and fill the blank area on the toggle bank where the black is, u can pop out the cap black plate on the face plate. Unless you want the face plate with the corresponding icon above the toggle bank. Then you will need it programmed at the dealership.

Toggle Switch. : 64113452459
