Getrag 6speed from Midland 5speed swap.. Problems
Hi guys,
Im still trying to finish this Getrag swap, but I have some questions.
My car is a 12/2002 Cooper (EURO car) and the box im installin is the 2300150429507 box, which is if I understand it not the preferred one, it does not have the good rations.
So to the questions.
1. Will this box fit? Its already on the engine, starter on, flywheel and clutch, but im getting reservations... does not feel right.
2. if I understand it correclty I should be able to use the shifter box from my Cooper, but when I hook up the shifter cables to the selector the cable to select between from left to right it seems to be to short, there is a lot of tention on the cable... any ideas?
At least I cant select all the gears properly..
All help appreciated.

Yes UKSUV is right you need the S shifter cables.
I actually have put all the parts from an 05 S we are parting out aside so I will have an affordable conversion kit for someone.

I calculate that total part cost will be about € 1200 (USD 1600). I live in Luxembourg/Europe.
Then I might be able to offload some of the Midland box parts on ebay.de, the broken gearbox, the halfshafts(driveshafts) and starter motor.
Im doing allt he work myself so I cant really calculate any costs related to that, but I can tell you that 10 hours is optimistic, at least with older Minis. Mine seemed to have had no problems, no work done on it, it was almost fused togeather. All bolts took extreeme work to loosen. For me it will take about 2 months to do, maily because of wrong parts delivered (wrong driveshaft and shifter box) and also because I have limited time to work on my car. In total, I probably will spend about 40 hours finishing it.

Starter, axles, trans mount - 250
06 trans with 2500 miles - 1050 shipped
MCS cables - 2 @ 100 each - 200 total
Plus, I got a MCS ecu harness, ecu, EWS and radiator for free....
So.....what...the total ran me 1500???

OoOoOo!!! That sounds delightful but i wont be looking at a getrag switch until a year from now. I love what you guys are doing though. Whats the price on doing the swap ? PM me if you have to.

Swap completed, car drives very well. The Cooper S flywheel is a bit heavy but since this car is not a track car (my 500hp M3 will take care of that) its fine, holds the reves well. The gearing is also a bit tall but the 6speeds make up for it.
I recomend the conversion, just be prepaired for a lot of work, time in the garage and additional money spent.

I don't have a fixed price on a kit. Mainly cause the mileages of the used parts vary and I can't charge the same price for an 80k trans that I charge for a 30k trans. When your ready we'll see what we have available and fix you up.
