Magnaflow XL turbo or Dynomax chambered muffler:

Hi guys just wondering if someone got experience with one of these 2 muffler.

Magnaflow XL

http://www.autoaccessorystore.com/ho...detail&id=2709

Dynomax turbo

http://www.summitracing.com/search/B.../?autoview=SKU

They seems to be chambered and similar to the original Cooper silencer, I need something quieter than other aftermarket exhaust.
I've got OBX header installed with a Magnaflow cat, the sound with the Blueflame catback was extremely noise and drone, it seemed a rally car. So I had to replace the old catback, however the sound over 4000rpm is changed, a little more tone. But I wanted something more, not like this one I had:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksYdmwV16Io

So you can imagine how ridiculous was riding with this sound...everyone turn the head to see who's driving the Lamborghini, and they see a Cooper....
The original muffler could be cut off and replaced with a cheap magnaflow xl turbo, just some pipes welded, but I want to know if this muffler could fit the Cooper and if the noise could be similar to the standard one...
If no one knows I think I'm gonna experiment this setup...
I've no resonator now, the center pipe I had with the Blueflame seems to be empty inside, so I was thinking to replace it welding a 16" obx or a similar magnaflow just behind the cat to make it silence more, but I don't know if this can be done after I weld the muffler... just to hear the new sound, its probably that with a 3 chambered muffler the sound can be not too loud...
There's no so many aftermarket silencer, I mean non straight, I don't want the cannon I don't like that kind of loud.....
that one you see in the video, the Blueflame I'm selling, have approx the same dimension of the magnaflow XL, however I would consider also the Dynomax. I know they are for truck, pick up ecc, but there's no any report in italy about these muffler, so maybe they run fine, and you can help me for a cheap solution to give different sound to my Mini...

Ok it seems no one has tried this kind of chambered muffler on his Mini, and I really can believe it....my goal is just to find a nice substitute of the big original silencer, I've ordered a Magnaflow Xl turbo oval silencer and one 4" round 14" lenght magnaflow round silencer to weld in the center pipe. So I'll try this experiment, all these stuff is quite cheap, I'm not looking for performance but for a different, little more loud than original sound...
I'll keep update this post, if someone has some idea it would be great...

Yes sure I'll do that, this mod is cheap that it would be stupid not give it a try....it could be a cheaper solution there aren't too many info but I've read almost everything about these muffler...
turbo muffler are not straight through, they are not restrictive as the original, they are baffled and they have chambers. Now the problem is to see if with the header and the hi-flo cat the muffler keep the noise down...that's why I've order another silencer to weld in the central pipe..

So, I'll keep you update!!

Hi guys, well no success on this mod, I just felt that this would be a flop since the day I got the magnaflow XL. Its an empty can, there's no material inside and I probably wrong ordering the 2.25" one. So, yesterday I went to make the job, first thing weld the magnaflow 14" silencer, cutting off the center pipe. After that, he tried, before weld the magnaflow xl, to attach it to hear the loud. OBNOXIUOS....but I just knew that...so I had to reinstall the older, rusty but silenced stock muffler. The sound now is more deep, that sort of "muffler resonator silencer" gave nice sound, car seems to be lightly tuned and i think I can be happy with that. If I would have known before i would have tried with the Dynomax Super Turbo, that is well packed, but my problem of too loud is for sure because I have OBX header and a magnaflow hi-flow cat....I'm sure if I would have keep the original header that the loud wouldn't be so high, so, my sensation is that its possible to install a 2" Dynomax super turbo to replace the older stock silencer, at one condition: that you have the rest of stock exhaust.
I'm quite happy with the header and the ITG airfilter, there's no compare since when i took the car that was pretty flat, now its surely more aggressive but at this point the chip tuning is necessary.
However, money apart, has been fun to listen different notes from my exhaust...thanks for your attention and hope to hear one day a dynomax sound on a stock cooper...

I attach 3 picture (sorry the quality of iphone isn't the best) the first one the cat is weld to the blueflame center pipe, other 2 are with magnaflow muffler...

The experiment isn't finished yet, I don't use to give up, I'm modifying the magnaflow XL reducing the diameter tube and adding a third perforated tube, so that gas flow will make a sort of S (like dynomax super turbo)....packing the middle chamber with original mini muffler absorbing material. I'll post other picture and I'll keep you update about this crazy experiment...
this pic is of the middle chamber cover opened...
