r50 hood scoop intake

i have an "S" hood on my '06 MC, and i was wondering if there is any insert of some sort that would be in the hood scoop and go straight into my r50 intake?

im pretty sure i have seen one!?

Alas -- I've been looking for this for a couple of years, to no avail. In my case, I have the aFe CAI so I just want to re-route the scoop air over to the filter cavity. I've experimented with some homemade baffle designs without much satisfaction.

Not enough of a market for this, I guess...

i guess not

but it most definitely should be!!

because i know they make those ram air scoops under the hood for the MCS, to get more air flow to the intake..

Can you describe your design, and how you fabricated and mounted it?

Chad does it seals when you close the hood? Have you built an airbox under?

little fiberglass would do wonders as well.

I used basically brake duct tubing and zipties. not pretty but you couldn't see it anyway

I've been wondering if the bonnet of the MCS was compatible with the MC. I thought I read that they are in the years of 02-06? I'm glad to see that I'm not the only person that has thought about putting the S bonnet on the MC.

So, is it hard to find a new hood? Did you order it new and have it painted or find one from salvage?

They are fully interchangeable for 1st Gen. Mine (bonnet, scoop, and insulation blanket) were purchased new as a bundled discount with the Aero Kit and all components painted to match. Salvage would be a lot cheaper if you could find it but you'd probably still end up needing to repaint.

I'm interested in knowing if the "sharks gills" scoop gives colder air. I would imagine that it would. Still a little too hardcore for me though lol. I just installed the DDM works intake and trying to figure out how to get more air to it without going to the extremes chad took even as awesome as it is lol.

If you don't run the little factory foglights run a hose from there to your CAI..
For those with a scoop, find a thin brake duct and or modify one ( doesn't have to be as long as the scoop ) and mount in there behind the scoop and just duct it over to CAI..

For the average street R50 I don't think it's going to make a big difference, but there are ways to do it if you want to..
