Adding the factory Armrest....compatibility?

Hey guys,

Looking to add the factory armrest to my 2004 MC. The gentleman I am buying this from has removed it from a 2009 cooper. Will I have any problems with compatibility or do the armrest fit all of the cooper models?

Thanks!

I'm not sure but I wouldn't think that it would. Not many things are cross compatible. I have a 3rd party armrest that mounts in the rear cupholder that I'll sell for $50+shipping, PM if you're interested. I took it out because I liked it better without.

Is it the one that bolts to the seat frame rails or the one that mounts under the center console? The center console design is definitely not compatible.

It's the armrest in the picture below. I definitely thought that it was compatible using the e-brake console. Also, according to Outmotoring.com it looks like it would fit with the correct revised two piece console.

I did this mod when i first got my 04 MCS. I just needed an armrest! Anyway, I looked at the outmotoring site and I think you will be safe. Mind you this is a guess, but You will need a new ebrake console it is the 05 console I believe it is this part number 51166958575. It has a cut out in the back for the armrest.

Now I am just going by what the part looks like, so in the end I can't be sure. I hope this helps a little.

Just to follow up for anyone who would like an answer....

I spoke with a dealer who told me that OEM has two version of this armrest that look identical. One was made for the 02-06 MC and the other from 07-present. The 02-06 would still need the e-brake console for a retrofit. They different in the mount area. Therefore an armrest from a 09 MC will not will on a 02-06 MC.

Hope that helps someone.

I did the 1st gen armrest installation on my 2003 - love it, most of the time. No issues with shifting at all, but it does get in the way of adjusting the seat position. I like the way it looks and would never not have it.
