So... Any one remove the head at home and not "lock it down like the dealer says"

Well, I as a new 2nd gen mini owner broke the lower mount on the side of my Mini Clubman "wife just found out" and well I thought I could get it fixed at a welder friend's house and just buy a head gasket and bolts from the dealer. Well I took the head over to his house and I had marked everything even the chain, zip tided it, removed the cams & rockers, Not the valves, and went to the dealer to get the bolts and gasket.....this is where I got the scare, I told him I would like the torqe specs and pattern for the motor.... well he goes and gets the sevrice manager and he says" you poor dumb bastard" and tells me that I had to have all these special tools and how I probaly just blew up the motor.... So has any one took one apart and did not have all those cool tools and had it work after ........ Thanks

Well now I know what happens ... at least I did not break anything .. I hope they can adjust the valves it's chattering like a diesel ...... and it will not idle ..... but it runs .....and that is good to hear
Well The dealer said I did pretty good it inpressed him how nice it started till it warms up but he said he should be able to re-set the base timing and all will good....NOTE TO ALL MINI OWNERS: DO NOT REMOVE THE HEAD IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE LOCK DOWN TOOLS

COST: $950.00 Plus computer time
