Drat! Can't remove old oil filter from housing!

Today I did my first DIY oil change on Schultze...

I've successfully drained the oil pan and removed the canister housing.

However, I simply CANNOT get the old filter OUT of the canister housing!

HELP!

Erika

Here is a pic:

YAY ME!!!

I just finished oiling the exposed part of the filter & the o-ring...screwed on the canister housing to torque spec...reset the oil change counter via these instructions:

1. Press and hold the trip odometer button.
2. Insert car key and turn it to the fi rst position (not the second position).
3. You will see 51A come up in the trip odometer area.
4. Release, then press and hold again.
5. Watch for the word “RST” to appear on the Odometer indicator.
6. Release, then press and hold again.
7. Wait for the “RST” message to fl ash.
8. Release, and then press & release (once only).

Turned the engine over and the oil light did NOT stay lit at all!

Thanks so much to RandyBMC for this AWESOME tutorial:

Special thanks to Capt_BJ for giving me the TWIST and PULL tip via private message.

It was easier than expected...once I got past the initial problem of not being able to remove the filter from the housing.

Schultze is now enjoying Royal Purple 5W30!

Off to do some motoring while the weather is gorgeous!!!
