Another Oil Thread Without Newb Questions

Well guys, and girls, I am letting the Mini go the full year without changing the oil. It will have about 9k on it total at oil change.

To be honest, I would have changed it at 5k, but I thought the wife was only at 4k about two months ago, so I didn't realize she was already at 8k now.

I got a Blackstone Labs oil test kit( http://www.blackstone-labs.com/free_test_kit.html) , and will dump a little oil in there right before I drop it off at the dealer and give results when I can.

Like I said, no newb questions here, I'm not new to cars, and am kinda kickin myself for letting this go. I'll give some numbers and help once again reinforce the need to not follow the Mini Maintenance intervals for oil change.

I bet if we paid for them from day one, they would tell us to change every 4 to 5k so that they would make more money...but since they pay,"No, only once a year (cause we are cheap baztards)."

I myself run Amsoil SS 0W-30 ( http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/sso.aspx ) in my truck and went 12,500 on my last oil change, and it was decent. The filter was too dirty for my liking, but the oil held up well. I will only run it to about 9k next time and see how she looks.
