Throttle Response

I have a Canadian 2009 MINI Cooper Clubman with the sport package. Unfortunately, the 2009 sport package no longer features the sport button. As such, I am missing this nice feature that improves the driving experience.

Does anyone know if there are any aftermarket upgrades that might improve throttle response? Even without a turbo, the Cooper feels like it has turbo lag!

Thanks,

An intake will increase your throttle response and will be much more worth while than the sprint booster. Also, you may want to even think of first just upgrading the air filter to a free flow OEM replacement filter. The one I have is from ITG and I love it!

i 2nd the air filter replacement. The stock air filter is huge and very restrictive. I replaced mine with a K&N drop in and i love it. The engine sounds slightly different, and i have gained about 3-4 mpg since then.

after much hesitation, i finally decided to try out the sprintbooster. worth it IMHO for my automatic needs. most of my driving is congested nyc traffic so i prefer not to use the paddles and while the throttle response is better in sports mode i don't need the higher rpm shift points and lack of 6th gear. i also don't need the tighter steering of sport mode either for my commute.

so sprintbooster gives me a great throttle response without dealing with the other alterations of sports mode, and i'm loving it. much more natural and responsive for daily driving (low to mid rpm & stop-and-go) and i find the automatic downshifting more smoothly cause i'm not mashing the pedal just to get what i want and inevitably dealing with an annyoing little lag and sudden jerkey acceleration. now i understand the importantance of the "area under the curve".

it doesn't help those who drive wot 24/7, but it makes daily driving (non-sport mode) so much more natural. anyway, there's a money-back garauntee. i do think they should price it lower, though. $200? i figure more people would get it and more profits would be made. it can't be that costly to make.

oh yeah, Formula Fun, i would try it out especially since you don't have sport mode.

Im having the same problem with my 2009 Canadian Mini Cooper. Ive been looking for a CAI for just the R56 and only seem to be finding ones for the R56S.

Does anyone know where we can find these for the JUST a coopers?
