I've read about recalibrated computer chips and heard the wonders they do for a normally aspirated car. My question is, can I install recalibrated chips in a Clubman without voiding my warranty? I don't see why the dealer would disapprove as I can simply switch it back. Anyone out there with aftermarket chips in their Clubman? Where did you buy them and how much quicker is your car from 0-60 mph (with a 6-speed manual)?
it's not a chip that is changed, it's the binaries that are loaded into the memory chips. And for the R56, so far I haven't heard of an uploadable solution, both GIAC and DimSport (European models only) make you take out the ECU. I don't know about the Mini Madness one (that I think is EvoTech). I don't know if any of them are offering tunes for the N/A motor.
For the R50, it was about a 6-7 HP bump and some midrange improvements.

Unless you buy piggyback system that attached outside tempering fuel map only, it should be o.k.
For reprogrammed chip that has been flashed, it may be noticeable from diagnostic tool from Mini dealer. In this case, it surely void your warranty.
Since most upgrade program calibrate fuel map, rpm, timing etc.
I don't know if Revo offer any for Mini yet, but they have those module to replace to stock prior going to dealer. This way, dealer won't notice any changed been made to the car.
We only have this sort of applications for Hyundai, Mitsubishi, Nissan cars.
I just read an article in my local BMWCCA magazine by a local BMW dealer who points out that they can easily tell when an ECU has been flashed with an aftermarket program. It's not that they will always figure it out, but if they do and you're in warranty most likely it will void most if not all of it.
But you don't have much to worry about... there aren't any tunes for the NA R56/R55 Coopers yet. I don't think there are much of any power increasing upgrades at all... which is really a bummer because the NA cars are still awesome performers.
10% is general for all motor and its better work with high cams to increase at high end rpm.Still, more investment need to bring power compare to turbo or supercharger.
With race application and high octane race gas, full off road may bring out to 50% output from stock. Of course not only ecu do those work.....all the internals need to replace too.
I think everything relies on demand. Just calling companies who are in biz for tuning Mini's....I am sure they will plan for n/a as well.
Tokico told me once at SEMA, they develop suspension kit base on amount of calls they get from customer. Just call with different voices everyday to any of their 800 numbers
