So me and my roommate were driving around and i started leaving a redlight, slowly, not like racing or anything like that, and it made a knock, sounded like it came out of the front left corner of the car.
-it did not jump out of gear
-everything seems to drive fine
-kinda sounds like a shock rattle or something
didn't do that loud knock again, but i did notice that I hear the rattle more when the fans are kicked on, so i guess when the engine is working harder or whatever.
I opened the hood to try and locate it and could not due to the tightness
any suggestions or ideas, i read about the clutch/flywheel problem and don't think that is it, this was at 9pm on a warm night
maybe a suspension peice broke loose all of a sudden... but i would check everything best as possible. engine/tranny mounts, sway bar and end links, brake calipers, strut housings etc.
good luck with sourcing the noise, we all know how annoying the little things can be.

Well I put it up on the car lift and got it to do the rattle but my dad nor I could locate it... im wondering if it's an engine mount.
Where are all the engine mounts on this car? the rattle I hear is somewhat close to the battery, but sounds a little "lower" or "deeper" in the engine.
It made the loud knock again when I was leaving a redlight again in 1st gear, but I did notice i was kinda ridding the clutch out.
Check the heatshield on the exhuast system. There are two pieces (header and cat back) that meet together and overlap and will make quite a racquet but it will sound like its coming from the top of the engine. Just bend them apart so they aren't touching.
