Painting chrome trim?

Generally, I don't like chrome.

I'm not fond of the trim around the head/tail lights on the new Mini.

I've got a 2008 Oxygen blue MC on the boat, almost here. I'd like to paint the trim pieces to match the Mini, but I've seen some ugly attempts at painting chrome..

What do Ya'll think?

Thanx,

Bill in P.G.

I love the way the MINI looks sans chrome. I recently bought the JCW grill surrounds for my R56 and it looks sick. I then tried to paint the surround i took off and it did not turn out so well. It might have been b/c of the paint I used and the prep. If you are looking into keeping it looking nice for a long time I'd say get it wrapped in Vinyl.

Wrapped in vinyl.. kinky...

C.M., thanx for the suggestion. I've never been one for vinyl on vehicles, but it might be my best option. I'll have to look into the cost for trim pieces, I imagine factory parts are not cheap, but I'd like to keep the originals aside for the future. I wonder if there is vinyl in oxygen blue?

for items like the grill...you may want to try plasti-dip. it's like a spray on rubber. just did it to my front grill. looks amazing.
