Magnaflow or megan racing cat back exhaust?

Ok I have done quite a bit of reading and I cannot deside or find an answer.

I have found a used magnaflow system for justacooper for $100 + I can do a local pick up.

Or

A Megan system for justacooper for $200 +~$30 shipping.

What should I do.

I would like the system I would be the happiest with, and I am drawn to the "British sound" people say the Megan has.

I have listened to a bunch of sound clips of both and they both kinda sound the same, probably because of the fact they are sound clips not the real thing.

From the sound clips I've heard, I think the Magnaflow sounds like poo. I'd go for the Megan.

Thanks for the relpy, I am leaning toward the megan but like everything I assume what is more expencive must be better.

The magnaflow cost close to $700 and the megan is close to $400.

On the other hand the magna is being sold for less than the megan so that makes me wonder also.

Both sellers said they got sick of the noise. Which may happen with me but I doubt it.

I have a magnaflow and love it, I also have a HAI and together it sounds great. The exhaust is loud when you want it to be, but for normal driving and cruising on the highway its barely noticeable. And as long as you arent flooring it through every corner with the windows down you can still easily talk to your passenger.

I love the way my Magnaflow sounds on my MCS. At that price I know I'd jump on it!

well, for the prices you quote you could try one and then the other if you do not like the first for less than the price of a new one of either.

tha magnaflow does sound nice. but, my megan sound really nice too. plus i prefer the look of my megan over the magnaflow (no offense to magnaflow owners). the magnaflow looks kind of big IMHO. i have a fairly decent pic of my megan in my gallery. as far as sound there's a few megan clips around.

After listening to sound clips I think I like the sound of the Megan better, the Magnaflow sounds real good on Cooper S but I don't care for it as much on the Cooper NA. I guess it all comes down to preference. Both systems seem to be well made.

That's a good point if I don't like the Megan when I get it, I can give the Megnaflow a try and probably sell either one for what I paid.

yes, the megan does have a nice "british burble" to it. reminds me of my old MG midget back in the day just a touch more noticeable. it is loud when you want it to be but, settles down real nice on the highway. the aFe CAI really makes it sing too!

i've never figured why the megan is so much cheaper though (talking new retail here). maybe because they're a smaller company? but, the point of that is- the quality and finish of the system is grade A+ top notch. stout and beefy. and it looks killer under the car. the tip fits very nicely and is subtly noticeable.

you'll be very happy with it.

I have the Megan and love it. At first, I thought it was a bit loud...but it was just the shock of having any sound after the stock muffler I think. Now I love it and am absolutely addicted to the gurgle/burble sound when you let off the throttle or while changing gears. It's very deep/throaty in sound and looks great. I didn't go with the Magnaflow because of the cost for one thing, but also because I didn't like the huge tail opening.

I was extremely impressed with the quality of the system when I opened the box....was absolutely beautiful.....of course, now it's under the car and you cant see it, but still.

Megan is my vote....but I'm sure you'll have fun with either choice.

I went with the Megan, thanks for all your input. I think both are great systems for different styles.

I want the most "British" sounding car I can since, that is what it is.

Thanks again for all your input.

MEGAN, is the way to go!!! All my local club members comment about my exhaust, and they have ALL the others..A tad loud, but well worth it.Plus I added some sound deadening material to the rear.

I talked with Steve from Megan when they were designing this system and waiting on delivery. He told me that Megan beleived in getting the after market equipment to the customer but with out the high costs involved. Also he gave me a deal and I got the first production exhaust sold. I would love to get another one for my new MINI.

I've got the Megan as well; just installed it last weekend. It is well-made and you can't beat the price. N2Mini, what sound deadening material did you use? The noise would be my only complaint.
