Removal of stock exhaust resonator?

I very recently (two nights ago) put on a new catback for my '06 MC. Love the sound, but it's a bit loud. I'm not as concerned with the volume as I am with the way it moans and drones on the highway. The droning is enough that I can't even hear the bass of the stereo between 2500 and 3500 RPM. I'm not giving up on the new exhaust yet, but it made me start thinking...

Has anyone taken the resonator section out of the stock MC exhaust and replaced it with straight pipe? The resonator is not very big, so I don't know what effect it may have if any. Maybe I should have gone that route to get a bit more growl before buying a totally new system? Just curious.

I'm not giving up on the new system yet. Going to try some sound deadening in the back at another member's recommendation.

Sound deadening really will not do much. I got a muffler insert and it took the noise right down. it was 20-30 busks and fit right on the magnaflow.
