covered downtubes with vinyl

I finally got around to getting the downtubes out and covering them with vinyl. it was pretty easy with just some 3m spray adhesive. I did have to shave down the part they slide into on the bottom, but it is way better than the scratched silver ones. Plus it goes really nicely with the chrome rings I installed.

Where did you get the tape to do that? I'm thinking of doing the headlight bezels in black vinyl but can't seem to find the right size. By the way nice job on the downtubes.

Very nice. How hard was it to find matching vinyl?

Easy to find at a fabric store

It was leatherette at about 12 bucks a yard. i used spray adhesive to get it started and at the back along the seam i used super glue so it would be tight. I am contemplating what else to cover with the rest... dash/etc. It is a charcoal color and has a little more grain than the seats but covers up all those annoying scratches. will be doing door handles soon.

I covered all my chrome with 3M flat black vinyl. Pretty well matches factory trim around car. You should be able to buy some from a local sign shop. I work for a sign company so I die-cut the vinyl for the head light rings, and cut stripes for the front grille area, and rear boot handle. Door handles are alittle tricky though..
