The difference in ride and road noise is significant
Just got the OE Conti runflats off of my Clubman S and have installed Conti Extreme Contact DWS's.
The difference in harshness of ride and road noise is really noticed .... glad that I did it.
Put a spare in the back compartment and I am a happy camper.

What size spare did you get? I was told that a spare wouldnt' fit in the under the floor comparment in the Clubman. I hope it will- Thanks.

Spare in the Clubman S
The local Mini dealership says what they ordered ..... a 15 inch wheel with a 115/70R15 will go in that space.
I am picking the assembled wheel and tire up at the Mini dealer this afternoon. We will find out if they know what they are talking about.
Will let you know if it fits later.

Traded mine out and put an OEM in the spare well. +++++1

Of course it will. They didn't change the entire body to redesign the spare tire well. What is true is that the donut spare won't fit over the front wheel brakes, so you might have to put it on the back tire and rotate the back to the front. Small consideration really.

Hooray! It works! It works!
The new four Conti Estreme Contact DWS's are great!
The great news is that the new wheel and tire fit well in my spare tire compartment!
If someone wants to do this in the future, these are the parts numbers .....
71-10-6-778-759 new trunk tray(the old one will not fit with a tire in the well
36-10-6-782-325 tire mounting screw
36-10-6-781-466 tire mounting screw cap
36-11-1-509-164 black steel wheel
36-12-1-178-869 rubber valve steem
36-12-0-418-847 tire T115/70R15 continental
All costs $251.02 at the local Mini dealer, but it was worth it!
To me, it was worth every penny to have a smoother and quieter ride.

We'll be replacing the stock Michelin run flats (on 15" wheels) with Conti Extreme Contact DWS tires (on 17" Drag DR33 wheels in white) this week. Our Clubbie came with the spare, even though it has run flats. I think we will be as happy with the ride quality as everyone else is.

This is always the right thing to do if a front tire flats anyway. The donut spare is not safe on the front wheel, as it won't steer or brake the car worth a darn.

You will really be pleased with the Conti's ..... same ones that I put on my Clubman, and I could not be happier.
Really makes a difference in a more enjoyable ride. Besides, I am traveling cross country from the southeast to LA in two weeks ..... will be a more enjoyable trip without the runflats(bricks on wheels).

When I changed mine out at 30K miles I found that for the cost of four runflats, I could buy four 60K mile rated non-RF tires and the OEM spare to go in the back with all the parts that go with it. Now I have a smoother, quieter ride, no worries about what to do with a sidewall blowout in the middle of nowhere, tires that will last twice as long as the RF's, and the knowledge that the next set of tires will be cheaper than more RF's. I win all around.

I did the same thing that you did, and found what you said to be very true. Glad that I went with the non-runflat Conti's and bought the factory spare.
Feel safe, and have a much more comfortable ride.

Had the new wheels and tires put on today - we really love them. The ride quality is better, and the wheels look really nice, both when standing still and when the car is moving. A picture is posted at http://www.northamericanmotoring.com...hanks-651.html, under post 16262.
We'll be heading to Minis in the Mountains next week, so will get a great change to really enjoy the improved ride quality!

Have to add my two cents on this, I also switched from 16"RF's, replaced them at 34000 miles and went with 17" Yokohama Avid ENVigor, better ride, better handling, the only downside is it seems by switching to the 17" wheels my gas mileage has gone down between 1.3 and 1.8 miles per gallon.
