Exciting news, I think

Just got an email from Ben Hudson at MiniTec....I will definately be looking into this. (course I have to get my mini first, but oh well...)

Michael,
We are in the process of building a Mini with a Honda CRV drivetrain which is front engine AWD with the VTEC. I am not sure about the cost of the kit at this time. It should be the close to the same as our MT-B Kit $2,500. I will notify you when it is available.
Thank for your interest,
BJ Hudson

I have been meaning to call them and see.....I think I will.

I don't know tons about classic minis, but I would imagine that the horsepower you could handle would be double what you could handle in a fwd car, right?

not really if you are sticking with the stock set up. i think the power is spilt 80% at the front and 20% at the rear.

The reason I was asking about the HP is because the AWD CRV 4 cylinder engine, I don't think, has much HP. I would rather have 200 HP front wheel drive then 150 HP AWD with an 80-20 split front and rear. Now, if I could have 200 HP from a relatively stock motor with and AWD system that could handle that much power, well, I would probobly donate a testicle to charity!
