This is pretty interesting. Are the thermostat housings on the side of the block in the Minis? The 1098 cc engine in my Austin Healey Sprite has it on top of the block.

no all thermostat are fitted to Cylinder head not the block....what you see is the water way core holes that need core plugs fitted
