At first I was like oh ha ha vtec yo, I was surprised after a Google search that it's such a big thing.

its a very popular conversion along with the Red Top (Vauxhall 2lt 16valve)

It makes sense. Honda motors can be had pretty cheap, and people have made big numbers from the newer motors.

This is the classic mini section........ why would anyone go through the work of swapping a motor in an r53 instead of just bolting on a smaller pulley for more power. For a classic mini it makes good sense to have a newer just as fuel efficient if not more so, good reliable, easy to source parts for motor. And there's a huge pool of choices for what motor to use.

I see my mistake, wasn't serious either way. However the 2.3 turbo option would probably put out a lot more power than the r53 engine.

Thanks for some of the info. I'm aware of mini tec but they are booked up on builds. Looking to talk with someone that was performed the swap. I'll look at the 16vminiclub site.

What questions do you have? I've done a few vtec swaps. My mini I daily is a swap.
