Mini Friends, I have a twin SU setup that is complete, unrestored, everything works, looks like it came out of a car (it did), and that I would like to sell.
There is no corrosion or rust, no missing parts. The pistons move freely in the bores and the shafts rotate smoothly.
I have no clue what this is worth, although I do know what SU's are costing these days. Should I list them on e-bay? Is anyone interested?
I live in El Salvador, and willl be in the USA at the end of the month, so i can ship them inexpensively if I found a buyer.
Please let me know your kind opinions.
Thank you.
Regards, Alberto
I'm no expert but I don't see you getting a lot of feedback here
I have a couple of Mini books and one on the SU and that doesn't look like any Mini setup I've seen. Plenty of other vehicles used the SU.. Datsun, Austin Healy, Daimler (sp?), SAAB and I understand the SU even has aircraft applications
So unless someone here wants it for just the carbs and throw away the rest of the stuff .... you might want to also search those other venues or just go to E-Bay and hope "SU" words as a search key....
Albertog you might get more interest if you could post the numbers off the carbs or figure out what model SU they are for and since captain thinks its suspect maybe measure the spacing and size of the intake ports. Those intake ports look awfully close together but you never know.
It appears to be for an 998 cooper. It looks like might be a somewhat desirable setup. I'd post over at minimania and see if theres any interest there.
I get listings that say this is a H4 SU carb, 1 & 1/2 inch throat; curiously I could not find anything leading to that in my SU manual! the AUC numbers are typically part numbers and I could find nothing in the 6000 series but perhaps that is the part number for an H4 housing itself which the manual does not list (only part numbers for the internals) {SU Carburetters ..... Brooklands Books, 5th edition 1994}
I did not have any luck searching the manifold number.
What I don't recognize in you picture is the thing 'tween the carbs. Never saw anything like that on a Mini. Nor have I seen in-take tubes like those on an SU; very Weber'like. I like 'em but not sure I'd be brave enough to run 'em no airfilter and all.....
