Automatic Mini Register

For anyone interested in Auto Minis..................

"Earlier this year we noticed the very negative atitude taken towards those who own Classic Minis fitted with Automatic Transmission and on many an occasion have seen people advised to convert their Beloved Automatic Minis to Manual Transmission rather than overhaul their perfectly good Automatic Transmission.

We realised that there was no specific resource for those of us that have Automatic Minis so we decided it would be a good idea to bring all those with Automatic Transmission Minis together to share Resources, experiences, information, hints and tips.

We also realised that the AP Automatic Transmission used in the Mini was also used in other BLMC models that were powered by the A Series engine so with this in mind we warmly welcome any owners or enthusiasts of such models

These Models include

ADO 15 All Mini Derivitives from Mokes to Vans,Pick Ups,Rileys,Wolseleys

ADO 16 Austin Morris 1100/1300/America and all its derivitives from Riley,Wolseley,MG,Vanden Plas.

ADO 67 Austin Aleggro Models

ADO 88 Austin Metro Models

All Kit Cars,Trikes,Hybrids and One Offs.

To Start as we all have to start somewhere the register will be Forum Based but as it grows will incorporate a Website and hopefully a Show Presence too.

The Admin Staff are there to maintain Harmony but in reality the Register is there for us all to enjoy without our Members there would not be a Register.

Please Feel free to contribute to the Register No matter how big or small your information, experiences and knowledge could very well be the answer to a question another member has been seeking.

We would Like to take this oppurtunity to Welcome you all to the Automatic Mini Register and apologise in advance if were not around when you sign up due to time differences around the Globe.

Sign Up have a good old Chat amongst yourselves and we hope to catch up with you all very soon."

Regards

Automatic Mini Register Team

From a fan of the Aisen 6spd 'Paddle-Shift' that I plan to keep to antique, here is interesting website about those Mini Classic transmissions:

http://www.austinamericausa.com/ (go to "Technical Advice" {left panel} and "AP Automatic Transmission").

Only (AFAIK) Automatic Transmission to ever share the same motor oil (10W40) with the engine.

I also thought that the Gen1's CVT looked like a good idea, but alas, see they have expensive reliability issues.

Seem to recall that a Dutch DAF car had a CVT in the 60's and from the US,
the Carter Car also came with a (not automatic) Continous Variable Transmission in 1919.
