I opened up my dizzy today to install my Pertronix kit, and ran in to a few problems, upon a quick search i found a picture of 59d points and thats whats in my 45d. Could I have mis-read whats on the dizzy or can you put 59d points in a 45d? i got LU-144 for the 45d, this is correct right?

thanks for any info,
The difference in the points for the two dizzy is identified by color and seems to amount to the 'locating post' : (from 7ent.com)
Description: Points set for 59D4 distributor, found on many A-Plus engines. Color of the plastic is blue. The pivot shaft forms a small locating pin at the bottom which engages in a dimple in the points plate.
Description: Set of ignition points for for 45D4 distributor, typically found in 1974-on, pre-A+ Minis. Color of the plastic is red, and they fit over a small post on the base plate.
Pertronix parts:
Product ID:LU-144
Fits Lucas 59D A+ distributors with "Blue" Sliding Points.
Product ID:LU-143
Fits Lucas 45D distributors with sliding "red" points.
So the points in your 45 should have red plastic, and would be replaced with LU-143. You can find pictures of all the parts at 7Ent.com {the pictures of the two Pertronix parts look identical.....}
I have been trying to set the timing on the mini to no avail. There is a plate that the ignitor bolts to, and can move on. I have read some where that people screw it so it cant twist. Does this sounds right?
I got it in with no major problem. i just didn't want for force anything...My hitch was fitting the round magnetic sleeve over the distributor shaft, after a bit of searching i found that sometimes you have to tap it on gently for it to go. I still need to time it which seems to be my biggest problem. Ill be doing that this weekend.
Note: i did read some where that some people bolt the vacuum advance mechanism so it CAN'T move. i can not confirm this, nor did i read it anywhere here so i DIDN'T do it.
Ok finely got it timed up and running. The only thing now is the tach isn't working. Loose wire some where i think because it was working before. Also whippers when out too. I don't think either are related to the Pertronix
I just cleaned up my dizzy and found I do have a 59D (sticker on the side of the dizzy) Here it was posted that LU-144 is the correct part number for the Pertronix Ignitor. But I read that LU-243 is the correct part. Can anyone confirm that?
On the box of my LU-144 it has "Ignitor Lucas 4cyl (45 w/Vac)"

from Seven's web page:
Ignitor 59D Blue Points ID: LU-144
Fits Lucas 59D A+ distributors with "Blue" Sliding Points.
looking at the pertronix site they simply differentiate between a lucas 4 cyl dizzy with or without vac' advance
now curiously the 243 doesn't even come up when you search the pertronix site for Lucas, but if you seach for the 243 you find what appears to be a generic 'all Lucas' fitment . . . I'm guessing the mounting plate is generic and placement to resolve timing issues is more involved. But that's a guess based on the picture of the part.
