Ooooor the red velvet cake cupcakes....ORrrrr the slaving over the red velvet cake cupcakes (and subsequent kitchen mess.) Reminds me of the old commercial for flour - a lady takes a pre-made-just-toss-in-oven pie out of the oven after finishing reading her romance novel. She wets her hand, dips it in flour, and fluffs some flour onto her face like she's been slaving away at the pie all day, and backs out of the kitchen into the dining room where she's greeted with a chorus of, "OH mom!!! You must be so tired!!!" I thought that commercial was always SO funny.

I know what you mean, who wants to waste time off being sick, when there could be a vacation set! I do the same!
How are you today?

on a side note, last night my school announced flu shots coming up - they are predicting a very bad year this year with the flu. I'm even considerig this year and i never get one!

Nah... it was the hoodie. I have been wanting to buy her a Lucky Jeans hoodie for a long time, but they are super spendy (sometimes almost 200$), but they scream my daughter.... so I've been keeping an eye out for one at a reasonable price. I found one for 60$ and it's purple and blue, which are her current colors.

This is a sample of why I fell in love with these hoodies... This isn't the one I got her, but I think I'm gonna get one for myself in the near future.

I'm doing a lot better today, thanks. At least I don't feel like I've been run over by a freight train.

As far as flu shots are concerned - I'm still quite reluctant to get one. Every time I've gotten a flu shot, I ended up with a nasty strain of the flu. So now I take my chances and go without.

I think the kids and are going to get the flu shot this year. Hubby is immune suppressed and will be unable to get vaccinated for H1N1 because of the timing of delivery of his immune suppressant drugs and the release of the vaccine... so I'm gonna talk to our GP about having the rest of us vaccinated so that he's less likely to get it.

Get better Darren! *big hugs*

Morning Freebies,
Just left Chicago, heading east on i-90, a toll road (UGH). Not the prettiest part of the trip.
RG- yeah- kinda weird to drive a ford- especially a MONSTER truck (f350, crew cab, lifted)- but it's also kinda cool to look the big 18 wheel drivers in the eye as we pass them. Had some really funny looks while driving THRU Chicago to get to our hotel last night. I'm guessing they don't see too many big trucks like this...
That said, Freddy is driving like a dream. That turbo diesel really has some power, and Freddy has all the bells and whistles, so we have the comfort factor going on. And Freddy drives like a truck (instead of a car, which I hate when trucks drive like cars... they're supposed to drive like trucks).
Had a great time in Chicago- Had a fabulous dinner at a French Bistro, called Kiki's Bistro. If you ever get to Chicago, I highly recommend Kiki's. It's even reasonably priced.
Ok, off to Buffalo, NY. Not too thrilled with Northern Indiana so far, but we're supposed to get some good scenery later
Ciao Freebies, hope all is well-

'morning TN. I definitely understand what you mean when you say you hate it when trucks drive like cars. Maybe it's just that I've lived here too long - but car-like trucks just don't feel like they would last long doing truck chores.

Anyway hope you have a safe journey!

What does Red Velvet cake taste like?

Mr. Alaska- Are you having a reaction to weather changes or is it Swine Flu?

Hey Cab- I wonder if you could find some NEW inexpensive snow tires on Tire Rack? Don't you have all seasons on right now? You didn't like them this past winter?

Ola, red velvet cake is chocolate cake that's been dyed red... but it has a really smooth, velvety texture that's caused by um... using a lot of lard and butter in the mix.

LOL..."Mr. Alaska"...You crack me up!

I think it may be a reaction to weather changes...or perhaps that I've been playing too hard when the weather wasn't all that nice.

I've tried Red Velvet Cake from the local bakery but unfortunately all of her cakes and frostings taste like her refrigerator. yuck! I know that Philosophy carries a line of bath/shower products and there is a Red Velvet Cake "flavor". I have the "Sweet Cream Frosting"... but wondered about the cake.

"Mr. Alaska"... sounds very proper doesn't it? You should take better care of yourself! Glad it's not Swine Flu. Have there been any cases there yet? I love on the news when one person in a STATE gets it, they color in the WHOLE STATE on the map! Like the whole place has been contaminated!

I think I should just stick to the no carb body wash! It's kinda funny but I've been working out hard for quite a few months and hadn't lost much weight. Over the past month and a half though... I have gained significant muscle mass (my biceps no longer fit in the girly sleeves of my suit jacket ) and I've dropped about 20 pounds. I had to basically cut out all carbs but it's definitely worth it. Eventually I will have some cake... that's when I'll go buy a box!

I know there have been maybe 3 cases here in Kodiak, and something like a total of 12 statewide.

I'm not terribly worried about Swine Flu...even if my state is red on the map.

We're required to get the flu vaccination every year - and I have to admit, although I had my reservations about the mist vs. shot...but I usually get pretty sick after getting the shot. I was 100% AOK when I got the mist! Glad to hear you're feeling a LITTLE better today, Mr. Alaska!

I think the mist is the live virus! I wouldn't like being required to get the vaccine. People should be allowed to make those kind of choices for themselves.

I still want to buy the T-shirt that says, "I survived the Aporkalypse"

And now for something completely different......

It's been 40 years since Flying Circus first aired on BBC 5, here is a link that has some of the better known sketches.
