Windshield wipers

Does anyone know how to install new windshield wipers and accessories (arms, squiters, some chrome round thing i don't know what it does..) I think the British just expect you to know how to install this stuff because everything I get for my Mini doesn't come with instructions. (Oh btw, I got new chrome wipers. that's why I'm asking how to install them).

Do you have a Haynes Manual? it would have it in there. It's dead simple.

Alrighty MINIxB, Good 'Ol Mini Accessories.

Window Squirters: The old plastic windshield squirters just pull out with some pliers and the new ones go right through the original holes and are secured on top of a gasket with a nut that tightens them under the front scuttle panel. All of this hardware should be included with the squirters.

Window Wipers: Remove the old wiper with a flat head screwdriver. They are normally on there real tight so you have to play with them. There is a little tab that you pry up on at the end of the wiper near the scuttle panel. Once you get the old ones off, the new ones go right on after you change the plastic housings with the chrome housings (make sure the new wipers click on or you will lose them).

Wiper Bezels: The plastic ones are secured with a nut on the bottom of the scuttle panel. Remove that nut and the plastic bezel will be off. place the new chrome bezel on the gasket and secure it underneath the scuttle panel with the chrome nut. These can be difficult so keep your patience and make sure that it is threaded on there correctly... it is easy to cross-thread this.

My suggestion for instructions would be to invest in a Mini Haynes Manual.

Chrome round thing...

is it a disk about 1 1/2 inch in diameter? Get 2?

Those would be covers for the alternate wiper mounting points. My shell has mounting points for left and right hand drive.

With the wiper bezels be careful about removing the bolt from the wiper gear box. I had the stud that goes into the gear box part come loose which made the whole thing spin. I had to cut off the bezel and hold the threaded stud with a pair of pliers to get the bolt off.

Yep those are the round chrome thingies i didn't know what they were for. I'm going to have a guy who knows more about Mini's than me to help me out with changing the wipers and the oil.
