Considering that the original A series engine was 848cc and produced somewhere in the neighborhood of 34hp?

That is just incredible! I always thought 100hp out of an A-series was impressive!
I wonder how often he has to rebuild his gearbox.

I'm pretty sure that *IS* dirty talk for many a classic owner...

As the turbo classic motors by, I inhale deeply, drawing his breath into my body. It tastes of brimstone and charred meat and his own treasured sweetness. The fiery turbo has cooked him from within....

Hi guys

Hi Guys, I've just seen this link on another forum so I thought I'd come and say Hi.

Yes that was a fun day, a little worrying letting a stange man drive your car i must say! But bill was Ace. Yes just to confirm it does have a straight cut gearbox and drop gears along with a 4 pin diff. And yes I have to rebuild the motor and gear box every season. As by the end of the summer months it's getting rather worn shell we say. I agree with what has been said, if you fitted a Vtec or another engine you wouldn't have to touch it at these sort of power levels, But to me it then isn't a mini (not knocking people that have done it) but I'm trying to keep it as much as a mini as possible.

All the best

Matt

So matt... how about some tips for the first (future) person in the US to build up an A+ series to 225+ BHP?

Also, can we see those dyno sheets?

Hi Guy thanks for all your comments. I can't really believe people at talking about it as far away as you guy!
Rocan, I believe the metro turbos put out around 85 to 90 bhp in there stock form. And it's an A+ unit. Yes I have a few power graphs shell we say, I'll have to scan one in for you.
Ashboomstick, yes the R56 is a nice car I went out in one the other day, and it a little more luxurious than mine to say the least!.

Thanks for dropping in, Matt... Love your car. Mine's a bit more... shall we say "TAME"? But I love her. I was planning on driving her until the body rotted out and the motor exploded, then giving the shell over to a VTEC shop for a full body restoration and engine swap, but I wish I had the skills to keep a car like yours on the road. Kudos!!!

Damn.. you're right. Gotta leave her out in the rain for a few months, I guess, or stop changing the oil or something...
