Buying from Jay, and hello

My Lightning blue/white '08 MCS is being built as we speak , and I thought
I should say hello to the folks here in the Cincinnati Mini Club.

I'll be picking up my Mini around the first of April and will most likely be joining
your group then. Was wondering if your group ever gets together for a spring
"detailing day"?

With the new Mini I plan to order either a new Porter Cable polisher or a UDM,
but would like to see them in action to get a good idea of how to use them properly.

Thought it would be nice if a group of "experienced:" Mini cleaners got together
and had a "clinic" to help the newbies learn the tricks of the Mini trade as far as
keeping them looking great goes...

I've been reading the detailing forum for ideas etc; but nothing beats seeing a tool
in action to properly learn how to use it.

Any thoughts?

Look forward to meeting some of you when I head over Cincy way. It's about a
three hour drive from my home here in WV.

Vince

Vince,

Nice to meet you. Our group has quite a bit going on this year and you can check it all out on our website:

http://www.cinciminis.com

Are you simply buying your MINI here in Cincinnati or are you moving here? Just wondering because depending on where you are in WV, you may be closer to another MINI club.

Later,

Greg

Buying...

I live in Hurricane , WV. Midway between Huntington and Charleston.
Unfortunately, I have about a 3 hour drive regardless of what "group" I
would try to hook up with.

(North Carolina, Columbus, Pittsburgh, or Cincinnati)

Since my wife and I enjoy visiting Cincinnati (and the fact my dealership is there)
it makes sense to me to try to get to know you all.

(We must like Cincy... back in 1985 we were married there <g>.)

Figure we will be going over that way at least a couple of times a year
just for "Mini" vacations... so maybe we could time them around various events....

You are more than welcome to join our group anytime! You sure are close to some great roads. Where you are looks like the perfect spot (near Huntington, Charleston & Beckley) to try & form a WV group. You may want to post something in the general discussion area here on on NAM to see how many people on NAM are in your area. A buddy of mine (Jeffro) runs a site for WV motorcyclists that has a wealth of info on great routes in WV. He is near Beckley, WV. Check it out:

Detailing you MINI

I too am waiting for my MINI. I just ordered it 0n 3/15/2008 from Jay and it is scheduled for production. I sacrificed my car at the altar of the snow gods on SR 129 in the blizzard on 3/8. I am going from a 1994 Honda Accord with 190,000 miles to a brand new '08 Chilli Red MCS. My wife says I totaled the car on purpose.

Regarding detailing, an excellent polish is made by Zaino. Follow the link and check out their site. I use it on my wife's 2005 dark blue Ford SportTrac and the results are amazing.

One of the guys in our club is the local rep for Zaino. He tends to put on demos for the products. Maybe we could make on of those into a spring detailing party?

My MINI Clubman was ordered from Jay also; I won't have mine until July . My husband & I are going to try to get to one of the QS&L gatherings, if we're allowed to, before our Clubbie arrives. (I'll get our membership $$ in prior.) We would be driving our Miata, which is well-protected with Zaino; the Zaino rep who is part of your group is actually the one who got us started with Zaino and my husband was directly buying from him for years before the company had mail-order! That stuff is great!

Welcome aboard! The group needs membership support, but don't let not being "official" keep you from coming out to our events and taking us for a test drive. All are welcome.
