This week is the absolute WORST WEEK EVER!!

Ok, so lets us travel back to the start of the week...

Monday.... I got to work in one piece and the work day went by smoothly, after work I went to Elgin to pick up some tires, Kumoh AST's, (I have to say for the price these tires are great!) balanced, 60K warranty, and siped was $589 out the door. Now I don't make a boat load of money and $589 is a pretty large chunk of change out of my pocket, and its only Monday. I had to get my old tires off, the had over 30k on them! (i try to take corners as fast as i can since purchasing my mini!)

Skipping forward to Wednesday.... As I was making my way home, I hopped on 90 west, and as I approached the exit to get off of Route 31 a semi kicks up a giant rock that puts a perfectly round circle in my windshield on the passenger side. I was very angry and this point. The circle was about 2 1/2 inches and it was fairly deep.

Thursday.... As I walk to my car in the morning, (by the way it was freezing out at 4:30 am) I noticed that the circle on my windshield decided that it wanted to travel...... ACROSS MY WHOLE WINDSHIELD! So I get to work and call Patrick Mini/BMW in Schaumburg on Golf Rd, and asked for a quote...... $505 to replaced my windshield! $330 for the glass and $175 for labor. No thanks.... So I called Glass America in Schaumburg, they came to my work that day installed it in 45 min. and total out the door was $226! no leaks, nothing couldn't be happier.

Now at this point it is Thursday evening and I have spent $815

Friday morning, oil light comes on.... I look underneath my car and there is a puddle of oil... I put a view quarts of oil in at work and it seems to be ok. It looks to be a small leak that has accumulated over time because after adding oil in the morning at work and monitoring it, the puddle was tiny. at this point I am so frustrated and drained I'm not even going to look at the leak till tomorrow..

That was my week
Hope everyone's was better than that!

Steve

Hey Steve, you want to find that oil leak ASAP, they can go from tiny to buy-a-new-motor faster then the dealer can charge your card.

if you do get around to checking your car, see if there's any
oil under the oil filter canister. i can almost betcha that it's leaking
from a failed o-ring if it's leaking that much.

Yeah, i just don't want it to be something major. I still have 6k miles left on my oil change but it won't hurt to do it early!

Since you put int a few quart of fresh oil, you don't have to do oil change in 6k if you don't want to. Just reset your oil counter.

hummm... mini05- did you ever find the cause of the leakage yet?
it's pretty warm out today, how about you prop up your bonnet and
take your hand under the oil filter canister? any leaks there?

take a mirror and you can check your drain plug area without raising
the car. i use one of these to check my plug after an oil change.

got mine from sears for like $15...

In regards to the question "did you ever find the oil leakage?" The answer is yes, It is a long frustrating story. I got home and jacked it up to take a look and found that the source of the oil leak was coming from the oil pan, it appears that the oil pan gasket failed.... I brought it into patrick on a saturday and said i needed to have it fixed. They can't fix it on the weekends because they need to go through the extended warranty company and they have to send out a claim adjuster to take a look at it. I said fine, i will bring it back on wednesday.....

I bring it in on wednesday during my lunch (I work right by Patrick Mini/BMW). I talked to the service associate that is helping me resolve this issue, and ask him when my car will be ready. He replied "The end of today". I thought, well that is convenient i'll finish my day and cruse over there and pick it up.... Well that is not quite how it all went....

I get a call about 2 hours later. When we put it up on the lift we found another problem. He then goes on and tells me that the power steering pump has gone bad... I said well of you have my car there and my warranty covers that. He said the adjuster left before they found the problem with my power steering pump, and he will be in tomorrow. your car won't be ready today....

Mean while, my car is on a lift immobile. I ask him when it will be ready. Thursday night he says...

Thursday rolls around i call and ask the status of my car. (3 p.m. I called). They close at 5. He says that the adjuster just got there and he will call back. He called back about an hour later and said that the adjuster wants them to put in a brand new power steering pump instead of a refurbished one, and that they had to overnight one from california.

O.K. when will it be done... Friday night.

I called friday night. They didn't get to it, it will be finished for sure on saturday morning.

Now i thought to myself. My car has been there since wednesday. it is now Friday night, and they didn't get to it. The service guy said that they got the part at noon.... I don't know.... I am furious at this point...

I just wish that they wouldn't tell me that it would be done wednesday, thursday, friday, and then finally saturday.. I live about 30 miles away from schaumburg going day to day trying to find a ride to work is kind of hard.. I know not all of it is there faults but give me a little bit more of a notice then the day i am supposed to get the car.......

Does your insurance not cover the full cost of windshield replacement?

yes my insurance covers it but, i have a $500 comprehensive coverage co-pay. So in other words poney up and pay it no matter what, or poney up and not have a claim on my record.

Weird. In KY, if you damage any of your windows, your insurance has to cover it in full. No deductible. No co-pay. You call 'em up and have them send someone out to replace the windshield.
