Spotted:

R50, black with white roof. Had stock MINI wheels, but aftermarket red ring on outer lip. Has a red pinstrip down the side as well. Saw it sitting at a repair shop on GreenBay rd, in Winnetka!!

Ladies and germs, we are facing an epidemic- waving has reached an all time low.

Unemployed (me too!) ? Sad (yup!) ? Frustrated? (you betcha!)

Don't take it out on fellow MINI drivers, wave!

I saw this thread and decided to post something (albeit over a month late). I flew from San Diego to Midway to spend 8 days with my parents to help them celebrate their 50th anniversary. On the way to the airport here in SD (like we usually do) my partner and I saw a few MINIs in the short 5 mile drive. We wondered how many MINIs we would see during our stay in Indiana where my parents live (just outside of Chicago). My partner thought we'd see a lot of them like we do here. I told him I'd be surprised if we saw any. So on the drive back with my folks through Chicago, we were scanning the streets looking for MINIs. Not a one. The entire week in Northwest IN? 0. Then the drive back through Chi-Town to Midway again, and still none. It was crazy! Where were you guys in September? You can't go anywhere around San Diego without seeing a MINI a mile, it seems. And we only have one dealer a good 30 minutes north of here!

Im a truck driver. 3 mornings a week I drive from Waukegan to Palatine, and then I drive home to Rogers Park in the city. On Weds I saw no less than 9 minis on my route. Some days I see none. None of them wave though Could be because Im in a beat up tractor trailer.

Ooo, since you're a truck driver, there are 2 questions I have for you that I always ask other truck drivers:

1) Why do some jerkish truck drivers drive in the left lane? Trucks in the middle or left lane only is still a law, yeah? What gives!
2a) Do you wear pants? I always said if I were a trucker, I would go pantless.
2b) Do you ever look into other people's cars since you're up so high? Ever see anything odd? Like, weird stuff in the back seat?

1.) I dont quite know what you mean by "jerkish"? Is that a Jewish person from Turkey? In response to your question though. It is illegal for a truck to be in the left lane on the interstate when there are more than 2 lanes of traffic. I could give you 1,000 reasons for a driver to be in the left lane and only 1 of them would be because he was "jerkish".

2a.) Um....Yeah....I wear pants. It never crossed my mind to take my pants off while driving.

2b.) While I am not a voyeour, you cant help but see down into peoples cars. I have seen some things over the years but nothing that comes to mind right now.

Jerkish- A person or action rooted in behaving like a jerk. Truckers who stay in the left lane on a 4 lane highway for miles and miles and miles... especially when there is another truck in the right lane fall into that category. Or, people who don't look behind them when opening doors. Or pretty much anything else... very versatile!

I should have specified "pantless" as in not wearing jeans but comfy stuff like shorts or PJs. I don't think I could drive around in jeans all day.

But I would look in peoples' cars to see what kind of junk they have in the backseat.

Was that DS/W parked or driving through? If moving it might have been me. I have snows on that car now so will be out and about in it a lot more.

It was parked... so probably not you, huh?

I saw a BRG/B MCS on St. Mary's and Oak Spring in Libertyville today around 12:30pm. I flashed you...my lights.

Mines pretty easy to spot right now with the dinged up hood, silver R53. Hopefully it becomes Silver R53 with carbon hood come springtime...

Keep your eyes peeled for me around Mundelein and north side of the city, that's mostly where I drive... front plate is mounted at lower tow hook area, it'll be a cold day in hell before I drill holes in my MINI!

DS/B R56, with silver Alta decals on rear windows in Palatine. I've seen this car a few times in the exact same spot. You either work at Citibank or Dollar Tree. Location is Hicks/RT. 14.
