Carlisle Import Car Show 2008 preliminary info

They asked for it... here is a Quote right from them...

"For 2008 we have decided to feature all British cars rather than just one manufacturer. That’s right, we want to see more MGs, Triumphs, Jags, Austin Healeys, TVRs, MINIS and Land Rovers than ever before. We’re hoping for a British Invasionof sorts by our friends from across the pond. If the turnout of Volvos this year is any indication we can expect an amazing display of England’s finest in 2008."

We had a great turnout of MINI's there last year, hope we even exceed that this year. It's such a fun venue I don't understand why I can't get more folks from down here up to it. I'll remember to register as Carlisle MINI.

I plan to bring a shade shelter and a video to run of MINI's on the Dragon too.

Edit: And in the spirit of "put your money where your mouth is" I just went to the Carlise site and registered instead of procrastinating. I'm done!

We'll be there again this year. However, the MINIs will only make the trip if they're predicting rain again. If the weather looks nice, we'll be bringing the Volvo and possibly the Triumph as well.

Either way, we'll see everyone there!

Count me in, although I don't have a car to put in the show. I'll just be there for the show all weekend.

I am staying at my apartment at school and driving about an hour everyday to Carlisle. Kinda far but worth it not to have to pay for a hotel, and its closer than home.

A MINI is not on the horizon for me at the moment unfortunately ($$ reasons). But I have loved Minis since I can remember (I hope they make a good showing although I have read they are kinda sparse at Carlisle) and I am looking forward to meeting people there.

I am not sure who will be where on Friday night I know that there are around 75 or so Mini's coming from out of town and staying at various motels.
The main event starts Early Sat morning at the fairgrounds. Make sure when you register sign up w/ Carlisle Mini as to group all together. If you let us know where you will be staying I will see who is going to be either staying at the same place or nearby. We all (Carlisle Mini) live no more than 20 min away so we will be there bright & early on Sat morning.
That will be fine if you have to leave on Sat night. Just come and have fun.
We will have some grab bags and giveaways! I'll be the guy in the KILT.
Till then feel free to ask any questions you need.
See you & your family soon!

its a def possibilty. would need to know what the fairgrounds roads are like. the Mini has about 2" of ground clearence...so, speed bumps and potholed grass wouldnt work for me. if all is good we would be bringing about 5 cars.

Fair grounds are really nice. Now hey you live in NYC and you are worried about potholes? How about the expansion gaps on those bridges?
No really it is a huge fairgrounds. If I am not mistaken it is one of the largest in the east coast. We have a member who just joined up with us from NYC and is looking for people to Rally out to here with. Wondering could I direct him your way so maybe you all could meet at a rest stop for the ride out?
When you register .... *** Make SURE TO SAY CARLISLE MINI for the Group name, as to group all Minis together... We will have giveaways from BMW, grab bags, T's you guys will enjoy it. See you all there and please let me know if I could put our new guy in touch with you all.

Thanks,
See you all there!

I'm down in Baltimore & am considering going. I used to live in Lancaster & loved to go to Carlisle car shows.

If I can get some help getting Perkins ready to show I'll do it. I don't want to be that bum that shows up with the car that has 3 weeks worth of dirt & a year old wax job!

CARLISLE pre-registration request rejected

I attempted to pre-register for the Carlisle annual event and was unable to complete the form. Reason? I don't like to give out my security code on my charge card. I'll probably still attend some way some how. I'm just a little hot right now. Any of you mini- ites out there have an idea?

I know you can call them direct and do all over the phone.
If I remember correctly they skip that part. They are a huge venue and are a secure place though too... Just remember to let them know you are with Carlisle mini .. so to group all together.
Hope this helped

In the past I have signed up when I get there on Sat. morning. It only takes

about five minutes and the cost I believe is around $20.00 or so. That gets

you into the show grounds and a nice goody bag.

I will try to get some of the members from Capital Mini Register to sign up with your club name.
Although our club was started years ago for classic Mini owners, many of us own and love our MINI's, so there's no danger of any 'fraternal rivalry'.

Ross, I'm planning on being there again but probably only bringing the RX-7 for the Race Car Paddock. We may also do the Auto-x for a test and tune. I'll definitely stop by and visit with you, Amber and the rest of the group.
