Signing in early... but it seems pretty dead in this section here on the forum... so I guess I can forget about waving to fellow mini drivers here in T.O.?
Hi MINI Diva!
Congrats on the upcoming MINI
It seems most Canadians don't really use this part of the board and just post in all the other areas.
I can't speak for T.O. but the wave is dead in the Oakville/Burlington areas. I don't even bother anymore. Oh well.
While you're waiting feel free to check out some of the pics I took of the MINI 50th birthday party. http://picasaweb.google.ca/steveski/...eat=directlink Half of the pics on the MINI.ca site of this event were taken by me but whoever published them on the web had no idea what they were doing and really screwed up the aspect ratios. At least I've now been published
Also watch this http://watch.discoverychannel.ca/mig...ust#clip131473 There's 6 parts to this. This is one of the ships that BMW uses to ship the cars across the ocean. My MINI was actually on this boat. It's definitely a good watch.

Thanks Steveski! Nice, how did you get them to publish your photos? You sent them in and they pick and chose which ones to use? I saw the Paul Frank replica MINI at the Markham MINI dealership... very cool. The event looked like a lot of fun!
Edit: ve3hzz... thanks.. just saw your post.. I'll check out those other forums too..

MINI Diva,
I keep in touch with my MA(salesman). I'm at the dealership every couple weeks getting car washes so we always talk about what's new in MINI land. I sent the pics to him, just sharing my experience.
Well about a week later I got an email from him saying the Operations Manager of MINI was wondering if they could use some of my pics in a release. I guess my MA passed the pics on up and someone liked what they saw. They have always treated me great so of course I agreed.
As for the event it was pretty fun seeing all the MINI's all done up differently. The gokarts were a blast, and they ran the Italian Job remake and everbody got a HUGE bag of candy. I never saw the movie before, it's pretty good. I have since got the original movie, all I can say is I'm glad I only paid $5 for it. . It's pretty bad IMO.
When's your MINI due? Once it get to the docks you'll probably be able to track it across the ocean with the info here. Then you won't know anything once it's on the rail system. After it gets off the train you should be able to track the truck it's on here: http://www.lhf.com/hansens/index2.php
The wait can be actually fun. We had a good support group here for the build week I was in.

I believe I'm in production Week 44, so it should arrive here late Nov. Yeah, I'm very impressed with the staff at MINI... felt right at home talking to them and they are very helpful in answering any questions I have. I like how they guide you through the whole process, yet they don't really pressure you to buy.
And for the record, I enjoyed watching the movie Italian Job... hehe.. saw it when it first came out in the theatre many moons ago... but I think seeing the Mini in the movie made me like it even more (the movie AND the car)

Mine is a 2005. I think your trip to AMVIV is quite a bit further than mine. I am rather pleased with how reliable the car has turned out to be actually. I was expecting worse. I look forward to seeing your car hit 200,000 soon.

We need to get this MINI link app available in Canada, right now, it is just in the USA... MINI.ca lets us down yet again. We can't get the MINI visa in Canada either. (we do not have enough MINI owners) yet I think we have more MINI dealerships per capita then the USA. Ontario has 8, maybe 9 dealers now?
it's an app that is a MINI location finder, to find other mini's around you. Go back to your clubs, ask them to log into MINI.ca and send off an e-mail about it! MINI.CA

Interesting idea. There are 4 MINI Dealerships in BC.
I'm wondering if there is a privacy law issue in Canada regarding the locate-a-MINI app. There will likely be good debate on that. GM's Onstar is also likely candidate for crossing into the gray area of privacy issues.

The difference with GM OnSTAR and this Mini APP is that OnSTAR is not public domain. It is used by the company to track your vehicle that you sign up for and the information is kept confidential with you the subscriber and the company. In the case of the Mini APP anyone can view your whereabouts and as such there would not be the same expectation of privacy as there is with that scenario. Likely this is a reason why it may not be available in Canada.
Now if you can only track other APP owners and I (or anyone who has it on there Ipod) if a subscriber can mask or hide my whereabouts then that is fine if I do not want anyone to know my location.
I may for example not mind if some members of my local club or certain members know my location but not others. If I can only have them see my info then that is fine. I however do not see that as a capability so far. Maybe someone who has it and is using it in the US can elaborate on this type of modification (if available).
Still a cool app, but maybe for reasons mentioned above is why it has not been offered in Canada YET. They maybe looking into Privacy Act laws and legalities?????
Oh and 1 last thing. If someone had this who is a little....lets say SHADY...could use that info to do some MIDNIGHT shopping!!!!!

Hi everyone.....
<<Thought I'd repost this here as well as my earlier post in 1st Gear.>>
Been dreaming of getting my MINI for years & lurking about the forums not wanting to register until I'd ordered my own. Now it is done!
Just ordered my '10 MCS BRG fairly loaded Still waiting for a production date but looks like it will be late May before I get my dream car. Lots of reading in the forums though to keep me busy. Time to stock up on quality cleaners, waxes & polishes!
