I am a very picky person. Marshamallow has her own pair of shoes for me to wear when we are out driving. but i cant keep her %100 clean all the time.
With winter coming up i have no doubt that rubber floor mats for both Driver and especially passanger side would be a good idea.
the dealership was wanting to charge me $100 for rubbber floor mats.
I said No.
Anyone have any luck with cheeper mats found outside fo the dealer?
How's the fit? ive seen rubber mats that allow you to customize the shape, by removing extra sections.
anyone have any tips or suggestions?

I got a set of rubber mats for everyday use (keeping the carpet ones the dealer threw in nice for shows). My dealer only charged about 60 bucks for the front mats (didn't get rear passenger since I don't ever have people back there enough to make it worth while.) Check your dealer and see - I bet $100 was for the full set... but you can buy just the front for less. And the MINI ones fit fabulously. Maybe try another dealer that could ship them? Not sure what that would run you though.

$100 for the OEM rubber mats is a stiff price, but in my opinion worth it. I've had several different brands of after-market winter mats for prior cars and none of them approach the quality of the MINI rubber mats-- they fit PROPERLY and they're high quality. Perhaps calls to other MINI dealers will get you a better price?? PS... my dealer threw in the rubber mats are part of my MSRP purchase.

If only there were more MINI dealerships in the area. there are two in the province, one is 3 hrs away other is at least 5. Price negoatiation is a no go aroudn here it seems, and anythign thrown in is on my wallet.

"you pay sticker price+admin/shipping fees, or you dont get the car"
they gave me a nice $13 keychain tho...
I'll betakign her to the dealership to have oil and oil filter changed before winter, when they call me ill ask If i can purchase just the front drivers mat.... maybee see what the dealership charges for some tint.

tough situation to be in.........and if you could find a "good" price from a US dealer, chances are shipping would ruin the deal because these mats are heavy. Some time ago, I fashioned rubber mats for a car (don't even remember which one, now) from an old trunk mat......they worked too, but obviously didn't look the greatest. Good luck with what you have available.....but I still suggest the OEM MINI rubber mats over third party ones.

Lovemonkey, as other canucks have said the mats should be closer to $50 than $100 for just the fronts, and the fronts is all that you are likely to need. Other options that fit well will cost even more (e.g., Weathertech), and even CanTire generic mats will run $20 - $30 for halfway decent ones. Check with your local dealer again and specify you want just the front "large circle" mats (they have large circles molded into them for design more than function, as they are quite slippery).
But let's all think positive thoughts and stretch out the warm weather as long as possible this year...

IMO, if you can find the OEM mats for a price you are willing to pay, they are worth it. The driver's side mat velcros down to the floor and does not shift while you are driving. With aftermarket rubber floor mats that I have purchased in the past, the mats always shift around on the floor.
I cannot believe you are being charged 100$ for front mats only. Is the Canadian dollar value that different than the American or something? Last time I checked the value of both was so close as to really not be noticeable. I got charged 100 USD for all four mats. The fronts were about 50$.

My dealer threw in the mats, no charge. They are good for summer, but not adequate for winter's snow-packed feet. I ordered these, which do the job very nicely.
Get the OEM large round circle mats. They are a bit pricier, but will not disappoint. The MINI has lots of weird little shapes for the mats to go around, aftermarket will likely not fit as well.
oldbear - can you post a photo of the Weathertechs installed in your car? I've been considering indulging my JCW in a set of fronts but would like to see how far up the sill they protect...

When I bought my car, it was winter, so part of the deal was for the dealer to throw in a set of winter mats, and they did . If you think $100 is steep, you should check out the price of Honda mats ($155.00).
I was going to say there were some used ones up for sale from R53 cars, but I'm not sure if they fit R56 cars. Check your local Craigslist.

You're welcome. I thought there would be snow and slush getting into that small gap, but it didn't happen last winter. Actually, a lip onto the sill might just encourage siphoning of snow melt onto the carpet. Anyhow, the mats work well.

Wow those look like they'd be tough and perfect for slushy Canadian winters, but insanely priced!! I guess if they last a really long time, they could be worth it. Also, are these in $USD? And then shipping charges? Yikes, but if they are good, could be worth it.

I have these and I like them a lot. I get a lot of compliments on the unique styling of the circles, and they trap the slush pretty well. I just find that around the pedals, salt still drips down from my boots and has stained the carpet. Then again, I don't know if there's a single rubber mat that would protect even that area!!
