Ok I have a question are there any other 08 Cooper S folks on this forum, as I picked up my 08 and it has rubber valve stems. Which would indicate an indirect TPMS system. As such I would not have to buy any sensor. Can someone here confirm I dont need a sensor, as the cars in the US state that 08's have the metal stems and direct system.
I don't have an '08 S, but my understanding is that all Canadian MINIs have the indirect tire pressure warning system.
Be happy, this means you do not have to worry about sensors when changing wheels from summer to winter.
hmmm now I am confused, mine has rubber stems and all the other 08 Mini's in the showroom were rubber too. I really hope I have the indirect system. There has to be some other 08 Cdn Owners here....
I was just at the dealer asking about this feature and they told me that the indirect tire pressure monitoring is in all the canadian minis, but it doesn't tell you which tire is out of pressure apparently. But you can get the stems on your mini if you want to and it will tell you what tire is out of pressure and running on run flats.
The latest MC2 magazine has an article on TPMS sensors. Sound like the direct TPMS sensors in the MCS cost $200 to replace; I guess tire puncture slime is out of the question when you've got those puppies!
