The new MINI in my family

My sister in law just got a (used) MINI 05, joined NAM... she is skinnymini.

Her little baby has the airbag light blaring at her. Any suggestions??

The Dealer in Stamford CT is like a CRAZY expensive! like just to bring it in, 300 bucks!

Any tricks you guys can suggest?

Never had this problem. I am sure someone has and will let you know. Have her try searching. I have found so much information by spending a little bit of time searching. I have a folder saved on my computer as it relates to my MINI.

Unfortunately, to reset the airbag light, you need special BMW equipment. Some of the early ones, including Tina's '02, had an issue with the wiring harness going to the passenger seat, and the warranty on that particular part/repair was extended to ~100k miles, so it got fixed for free at Classic. I think that was fixed before '05, though. I'd suggest calling around and seeing if there's a shop that can read the code from the airbag computer.
