"You should've bought a faster car"

Yesterday on my way home from work, I was getting off at the Ridge Rd exit of 480 as usual. I dropped it into 5th because the people ahead of me were slowing down (it's still an exit lane at this point) and I notice some idiot in a gray Taurus get RIGHT UP ON my ass. The guy keeps riding me, and I notice there's a car directly to my left so I think "Okay, he just came off of State Rd and is just trying to merge behind this other guy without his turn signal on". But no, the other car passes me and this guy is still on my ass.

We get to the actual ramp and I proceed to slow down more. Guy in the Taurus (this is a single lane, very beginning of the ramp) GOES AROUND ME to the left and then jerks his car to the right. I'm still doing about 45 at this point and can't just slam on my brakes, so my "protect the MINI" instinct kicks in and I go off the ramp on the right and into the grass a few feet and stop.

I've never even been in a car accident before, so at this point I'm freaking out and the guy stops and yells "You should've bought a faster car!" and I yell back "It's an exit ramp you ****ing idiot!" and then he yells "You should've bought American made! See this? This is American!" It's a ****ing Taurus you jerk, your speedometer probably goes to 100. Of course the jackass drives off and leaves me sitting in the grass.

Luckily the car wasn't damaged or anything at all, but I'm still pretty shaken up and afraid to drive. Thank god I'm off today.

Anyone else have any retarded stories of roadrage in order to cheer me up?

Fk'n jerk!

In that area there are plenty of idiots who work at the Ford/Chevy plant and hate cars made in Japan/Europe. They are too ignorant to know that many of these cars are made here. Or the fact that 75% of the parts in their Ford (aka "found on road dead/fk our raw deal") were made around the world.

I bleed red white and blue and am as patriotic as they come. But I will never buy a Ford or GM car again. They're crap. I did have a PT Cruiser for 3 years that I loved and still miss.

The ******* didn't even know that a Cooper S would blow his turd on wheels away. Yes I would have followed him and called to cops toot sweet.

What a jackass. I own a badass American car but don't act like that and can appreciate a cool car like the Mini. BTW a Ford Taurus is a pretty pathetic car to be taunting others in :-)

I know right?! I think this is the part that pisses me off the most, honestly. I would've probably felt better being taunted by someone in a riced up Mazda with a fart can or something.

And I didn't get his plate number because I was too busy freaking out because I'm such a girl. Seriously though if traffic hadn't been moving so quickly I probably would've gotten out and punched the guy in the face.

F-em and move on. I don't know if there is a "TaurA$$ forum" but he is probably a r-tard on it. Safety comes way before ego. Everyone is amazed that I can make a peel out noise with my "regular cooper". I get sick of r-tards on my a$$ on 480 all the time. TAP YOUR BRAKES. Freaks them out when you do and then turn off into the other lane. Now, take a breath and realize if they DON'T DRIVE A MINI THEY ARE JUST JEALOUS.

Kill them with laughter....

Good advice Kim. I find that if you get pissed off it makes the A-hole happy. Last thing I want to do is make one of them happy. I usually laugh really loudly at them, pisses em off & makes me laugh even more. Now an A-hole who thinks he has a fast Taurass is pretty damn funny.

I'll sue the bustard....

Not a very good strategy IMO. Most likely all he has is a crap Taurass anyway....

I understand the anger of being tailgated & such, but if you nail the brakes & someone hits you, then possibly it is you who would be sued. Something to think about I guess.

Lets be careful out there & watch out for the wankers. They are everywhere.

I have my doubts since allot of rear end accidents happen because the guy in the back was either following too close or going to damn fast. In this case... you bet

As an inshowance man I can vouch

that the guy in back is ALWAYS at fault. "Assured safe distance". It doesn't matter if the guy in front puts it in park. You're responsible to be far enough away. Even if a guy rolls back on a hill and hits you!

Man that's a good one. Guy in front can cause an accident, but if he's in front he's immune? NFW!

Yep that happens a whole lot & shame on them if they do, but if there is a brake check involved, well that sort of made the accident happen. In fact that accident becomes a case of road rage caused by the brake checker. If the guy in front brake checks the guy in back well, he just became the cause, plain & simple, plus he has lowered himself to the same level as the A-Hole tailgater.... Way to go! If you brake check someone who you know is too close, what the helz do you think the outcome could be? Yep you could get hit & you could sue his sorry butt, or maybe you could just enrage that A-hole enough to flip out. When that guy is reaching through your window to punch you out, or pointing a gun at you remember to yell real loud that your lawyer is going to sue his sorry butt good. That'll stop him in his tracks & fix his wagon for sure.

I really can't fathom anyone brake checking someone else. Are the brake checkers enforcing the rules of the road? Or maybe they think they're teaching the A-hole a lesson. Well he ain't gonna learn it.

Do what you wish & think what you like. My free advice & worth every penny you've paid, is to not become an A-hole one's self. Slow down a bit & they will fly on by in the left lane. If you are in the left lane, move right. Simple really.

A brake check was described as THE technique to warn tailgaters in my West Virginia learning to drive manual (I wish I still had it). At the time (7 years ago) when I was learning, I didn't realize what a brake check was until a friend of mine did it.

I do agree, break checks will make a tailgater very angry. So I now prefer the swirve and pretend to be a distracted driver technique. Very effective!

Also, calling the police when nothing has actually happened is a waste of time, as they will tell you there is nothing they can do until something actually happens.

Let him do his thing. My favorite thing to do in response is to 'just smile and wave, boys, just smile and wave.' =o)

Here in Ohio the brake checks that I have witnessed involved braking so hard that the car about stands on its nose. I will put my left foot on the brakes to make the lights come on, while maintaining my speed. If that doesn't work & it rarely does, I'll drop a few MPHs & they speed on by.

I'm a smiler, waver & a laugher.

I would've been totally happy to let this happen, if he didn't try to speed on by IN THE SAME LANE. I didn't even brake check him and that's what I got. :(

Why can't we all just get along, man? Peace and love, man. C'MON PEOPLE NOW, SMILE ON YOUR BROTHER EVERYBODY GET TOGETHER TRY TO LOVE ONE ANOTHER RIGHT NOW........

Tiny Blue, I realize that you did no brake checking. My responses were to those who would nail the brakes & them attempt to sue for an accident they cause.

I have had similar incidents in traffic as you describe. Yikes, but you have to forget about them & drive on. Best be defensive while you drive.

Motor safely.

Peace out FTW....

WOW. I am not encouraging braking hard to get rear ended to turn around and sue!!!! I mearly mentioned the warning technique I use when I am approached by an r-tard. just press enough to get brake light on and "move on" or for those who need it spelled out further: "move out of their way". I thought I posted "safety is more important then ego".

and we wonder why this country is such a mess right now.

READ & UNDERSTAND BEFORE REPLYING. I guess this will be my fault for not being more extremely clearer.
