Planning a BRM Road Rally - July 11th 2009

Hey all,

I used to plan rally's for some of my wife's churches. They are a blast. I think the July time frame would be great. We could end it at my house in Chagrin Falls. I will cook us all some grub on the grill

Bring your dogs too. I have a fenced in run off the deck.

With any good rally, we will want "everyone" to be able to participate. I want to limit one to our members though. I think July would be good if we can find a Saturday or Sunday that would work. So please post availability accordingly.

My wife and I will manage the rally and put together all the "riddels" and the route. It will be a timed event with rules. Points for fastest times and sucessfully finding each stage will be awarded. Points will be deducted for cheating also Once all the points are tallied, there will be prizes for all the team members who come in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. More rules regarding the point system will follow.

We will need a theme. Any suggestions?

Count me in. The thing you need to do is post/pick a date. That's it, no discussion - IMHO. Look at all the planning the Pub takes. Just pick a date now and then you can plan a way!!! Bob the Czar of BRM could give you some stories of our rally last year.

Boobbie Where Are You?????

I think a better rule is Wellzy has to drive in reverse. This would only give him one gear

As far as picking a date, I will give everyone a couple of weeks here to get some more feed back. After that I will firm up a date. I want to make sure "everyone" can attend.

I have already created some really great challenges

More details to follow soon.

Well, seeing as how the ONLY open Saturday or Sunday I currently have in the entire month of July is July 26th (and of course, we have an event here that I MAY have to work), I would vote for that day. Hope I don't have to work!

Does that mean you may have the 25th available also?

The theme to this rally will be "The Letter C"

What better letter to pick than the first letter in the word Cooper.

Here are a few things to look forward to.

Going to towns with the letter "C" in the name.

Taking as many roads as you can to a check point with the letter "C" in the name for xtra points.

Findind "free items" along the way that have the letter "C" in them for extra points. Obviously you need to bring them back to the check in.

Going to a specific library - finding a specific book (of course with the letter C in the name) and reading a page properly counting the number of "C's" in it.

Counting the number on MINI's you see along the way during the trip (I will trust you will be honest because xtra points will be given to the team with the highest number of MINI's spotted). They may not be so easy at times

I understand that you had a rally that was really hard any quite a few people gave up. Those are no fun. Your riddles will be easy along with partial spellings of some of the check point names. You will be given envelopes with the locations of the check points to be returned at check in. There will be deductions in points for any open envelopes. You will also be able to call anyone during your trip help out with a riddle. You will be able to ask any local person in an area where something is. You can call me and I can give you further information about a check point location (at no charge). Pretty much you can do anything you need to find out where a checkpoint is located. They will be easy to figure out since I want this to be more of a driving event.

This will be allot of fun and the party afterwards will be a blast

Date for the Rally - July 11th 2009

The best date for my wife and I will be Saturday July 11th.

We will commence at out standard Penara Bread location.

The rally will start at 10:00 AM sharp.

Please let me know if anyone is allergic to any kind of foods, etc.

I will be posting a new thread two weeks prior to the event for a roll call.

I have finished planning the route and will be putting the final touches on the overall rally over the next few weeks.

Have a super weekend. Hopefully we can hook up at the PUB.
