Looking foreward to joining the club. I would say a drive up towards Erie and go see the lake. There are a few wineries we could stop at. There is one with a good restraunt we could stop at for lunch maybe. If this sounds fun, cool. Otherwsie I am game for anything.

Vines & Wines Trail 800-227-6972 dhammond@ohiowines.org
Join the wineries in northeast Ohio for a self-driving wine tour. Thirteen wineries are participating in this event. They include:
Biscotti Winery and Buccia Vineyards in Conneaut, Debonne Vineyards, Grand River Cellar and Maple Ridge Vineyards in Madison, Ferrante Winery and Ristorante, Old Mill Winery and Virant Family Winery in Geneva, Old Firehouse Winery aand Lakehouse Inn and Winery in Geneva-on-the-Lake, Laleure Vineyards in Parkman, and Emerine Estates in Jefferson.
At a designated winery you will receive a Schott Zwiesel wine glass and a spring garden pail to collect different colored gladiola bulbs in. At each of the wineries you visit you will receive a glad bulb, one or two wine samples and an appetizer.
You have two weekends to travel to all thirteen wineries. A ticket for a couple is $45 and a single ticket is $35.

You could probably do all those in a day. (I live in Lake county within 20 miles of many of them)
Of course, you wouldn't see much of them if you tried to get it done in one day.
I'd say that the nicest for food would be Ferrante (but a bit more expensive), but the Firehouse in Geneva is right on the lake and during the summer (when it's not 10 degrees colder up here than 5 miles south) it's a great place to hang out and usually provides some sort of entertainment (besides that of GoL itself.
The one in Parkman isn't as convenient if you try to make a loop. The others are mostly within 10 miles or so (as a crow flies) of Lake Erie and are able to be combined into a loop of sorts back towards Cleveland if that's where you're coming from.
I never knew all these wineries were that close together. My wife and I have only been up there a few times. I have heard about the Firehouse in Geneva. That is a great idea.
I hope my suggestion is not out of line after thinking about it (drinking and driving ). I have never been a member of any local driving club, but have always wanted to be. Let me know your thoughts.
As an FYI, I have put together many road rallies for some of my wife's former churches (she is a retired Presbyterian minister). We use the traditional read the clue to try and figure out the next stop. These would always be timed along with specific rules, etc. With enough people, we always put about three to 4 people in a car. Otherwise we split up couples between all cars so people could get to know one another. They are always a great time and the the clues are usually pretty easy. I would love to do one in the future

Timmer,
If you plan it they will come...
I have been on these before, they're a blast.
Of course, it would have to be really short if you were planning to put 4 people per car (in the MINI).
I don't think with me driving, I could get 4 in my car...

I'm up for the drive but I'm picking up future Rocket Scientist from the airport in Akron at around 2. I need to make sure I leave for that road trip after wine tour. WOW did the first year at Florida Tech go by fast. Marty will be at the breakfast in June

I do not believe in drinking and driving however, I believe that we are responsible adults and can control ourselves at winery's. I think doing 3 would be fun. I like the idea of Firehouse for the ending, I have heard some great things about it, But it is up to you. If you want to put together a route it would be great. Plan on us leaving Panera at 10 am. If you want to start your route at River Road and 528 in Madison, Mark (Wellzy) knows a few GREAT roads to get us to that point. (we live in Perry)
Being new to the area, I do not know which roads would be fun to drive on. I could make some suggestions on which wineries we should hit. If someone else besides yours truly would be willing to pick the route, that would be great. But I am willing to try if anything else....

Pick the wineries and Mark and I can help. Blair Hill is one of the roads Mark was planning on hitting. It is across from our house we drive it ALL the time.
I will pick the wineries tonight and post them. We can then work on the route. I was at my folks this weekend up in Okemos MI so sorry for the late reply. I took my two Bedlington terriers to meet their grand parents for the first time. It was a great drive in the MINI and a great time. My folks loved the little car ... and the dogs

It was a great weekend to be out driving. I look forward to seeing the wineries you choice.
