Website?

Any interest in getting our own website again? I'm just throwing out a feeler to see if there is any interest.

I have a licensed copy of vbulletin boards we can use and provide most of the tech support.

Always been lots of interest, but no one stepped forward to accept responsibility of the site maintenance. Not many people have these skills, and probably more importantly the ones who do, don't have the time (or desire in our case) to maintain the site.

I know I don't have the skills. At work, we are having issues with a web based management system which I have been told is a java issue. Well damn, I drink lots of java every day, and if it ever became an issue with me, I would stop drinking so much.

I'll start working on something this weekend. My only problem is that I'm not good with art or graphics. What I will need is someone to come up with a banner. I'll provide the .psd when I find the right skin I want to use.

Need some help on picking a url for the site. bluegrassmins.com, what we had before was gobbled up by some guy in Japan in April. bgminis.com is taken also.

What are some good alternative url's we could use?

I was a little leary at first on choosing a .org because of the price but I found an awesome code that practically cut the price in half.

I picked up bgminis.org. Soon as I get a webhost, I'll start working on the site. Expect to see something by next weekend.

As in backup of the old site? If that's what your refering to, I don't need it. Going with totally different CMS that is 50 times better than bb boards. Or if your replying to the url, it's gone because no one renewed and some guy from Japan snapped it up about a month ago. Why, who only knows?

COOPERation did an excellent job helping our club with logos/banner etc. He made several designs based on suggestions and we narrowed it down from there....we even made some nice shirts out of the deal. If you need help with designs, you may want to check with him and see what you may be able to hash out.

Website is now live: http://www.bgminis.org

The site is 90% complete but functional.

Things I'm going to work on this week:

1. Improving the header. The jagged tach is just a place holder and I will jazz up the text some.
2. Mess around with the main forum color of white.
3. Forum permissions. The garage and gallery are not functional for new members.

If you have any suggestions for the site please leave feedback so that I may make the site better.

Thought: perhaps the marketing/Advertizing/PR firm working with Tafel will be willing to help with the site at no cost, or at Tafel's cost. I'm sure they're looking for all the exposure they can get.

We have a MINI of Louisville website on the very near horizon. We have purchased a few domain names. I'm very excited about the momentum that's building...

If you haven't done so already, be sure to check out http://www.facebook.com/pages/Lets-M...9389794?ref=ts!

Not sure what kind of exposure they can get but hopeful mini owners can come to the sight and ask questions about the mini.

I don't expect Tafel to pick up the tab for the website but hopefully they can give out some nice swag for events that we have.

Update: New header and permissions have been set. Going to spruce up the header in a few days but will mostly look the same.

If you experience any problems please let me know so that I can fix it. Especially with sigs, avatars and uploading pics to the garage.

A little bug that I found was importing avatars. When you upload an av and click save, it says the upload failed. This is untrue, the av has been saved and is working.

trying to load my car. R50 isn't listed, so it won't let me complete the page in the garage. Is there a place on the site where you can easily see who else is on the site at the same time? Like this about MU.

I'll add more vehicles in just a sec. For online users, homepage left hand column or forum main page at the very bottom just below the garage section.

Ok, I'm old and clearly out of touch. Can someone tell me what an av and sig is? I'll be out back chiseling my memoirs into the stone tablet while I wait for the answer....
